My husband and I will be on RSSC Voyager's Mediterranean cruise in May. At this time, we are forward on Deck 7 right behind the master suites. Ngaire reported on cabins 702 and 703 that they look directly onto the master suites of 700 and 701.
Has anyone cruised in one of these cabins? Any advice would be most appreciated.
Being at the front of the ship, should I be concerned about motion (seasickness)?
This is our second cruise with RSSC. We were located midship on Deck 9 on the first cruise.
I enjoy reading all of the posts on this site!
Thank you.

Welcome Francesca...glad you've joined us.
I'll look forward to your report from the Mediterranean...we're going in the fall. Hopefull you'll find smooth seas so cabin location won't be a problem.
What are your cruise dates?
I'm sure someone here can tell you about forward cabins.
Margo

Francesca, I don't think in the mediterranean you will have a problem with that cabin re motion sickness. It is when you are on the more open seas that this might be a problem. I have found these waters to be more "protected", and have never been seasick there. Hope you have a great time!

On Voyager last October, we hit a storm in between Sorrento and Rome. Around 60-70 mph winds. We were in an aft cabin and had some pretty big bounces. However, nothing fell off shelves or desk. Ngaire was forward and up so she should be able to tell you her experiences. A number of us were on the Voyager then so should be able to recount experiences from various parts of the ship.

We were on the same cruise as Marc and our suite was forward.
We felt no motion whatsoever, during the entire cruise, until we hit that storm on the last night. We felt as if the ship was being lifted out of the ocean and slammed/dropped back down numerous times. An incredible experience.
A word of advice, Francesca. Do not pack away Bonine, or any motion sickness medication. Keep it handy at all times.
I brought along Bonine, for motion sickness - just in case. I did not have to use it once...until the last night, which was the night of the unexpected storm. I did not have full blown motion sickness, but felt it brewing. When I went to get the Bonine, I discovered that I had packed it away in a piece of luggage that was placed outside our door in preparation of debarkation the next morning. When I opened the door to retrieve the piece of luggage it was in, I discovered that Radisson had all ready removed it to their holding location. I called the Reception desk and within 5 minutes, an envelope of Bonine was delivered to our suite. This was at 1 AM!
We were quite pleased with Deck 7. The only negative was that our suite (713) was a distance from the laundry room. Other than that - perfect!

Thank you so much for your response!
We are on the May 13 - 20, 2004, Monte Carlo to Athens cruise.
Since we originally booked on Cat. H, we were assigned to the forward 7 Deck.
I appreciate your input, because at this time we can upgrade to either Deck 8 or 9 with an extra $1300 or $1500. I just need to know is this extra money worth it? My husband does not get seasick. I did on my first cruise (not an RSSC cruise).
On our "Baltic Mariner" cruise, I used a patch and had no problems, but we had a midship cabin on Deck 9.
Again, thank you!

Personally, I feel the extra expense is not worth it. Save it for a great excursion or some wonderful keepsake. Deck 7 is great and you will not be disappointed.
I hope Kimmi chimes in with her seasick experience and cure. She used one of those wristbands that send out impulses, rather than work as a pressure point band. In fact, she purchased it on board and it worked in no time. Buy that and save the additional money for something great as a remembrance.
All of the standard suites on Voyager are magnificent.
I hope you have a wonderful time!

Francesca, upgrading to Cat E or D is not worth the cost. The rooms are identical, and you end up being further from the "action." In addition, as others have pointed out, the higher you are, the more movement there is on any ship. Cat H and G are my favorites because of their added stability from being on slightly lower decks.
