Yes Bonnie knock offs - but I don't think I saw one for under $300 - they were beautiful - girl showed me the latest - I would not have known the latest from one 5 yrs old!!!

Re: the designer knock-off store on Canal & Broadway. Louis Vuitton recently got a court order that the landlord will have to pay thousands of dollars in fines if the retail tenants are caught selling the counterfeit bags.

On a related note: Yesterday, I saw undercover police swoop in on two knock-off handbag sellers on Lexington Ave and 58th Street. Sellers were handcuffed, merch. confiscated and 3 bewildered tourists lost their purchases & money. However, they were lucky in comparison to the Dutch tourists in Italy last week who were caught buying fake designer sunglasses on the street and were fined 10,000 Euros. The fine was lessened to 3300 Euros if paid immediately.

Anyone else here need any shopping or dining tips for NYC, I'm also happy to share info. I was born and raised here and it's still my favorite place in the world! :)

Hi CJ, I know they do it all the time, I saw a raid last time I was there. I was going down to Tribecca and I saw the police raid a store. I know it happens, and I personally don't shop there, but when people ask about it, I suggest it. I don't like knockoffs personally, I'm only fooling myself,as I see it, but if people want it, that's up to them and respect their choices.

It's been a sore subject in NYC for ages if I remember, all the raids and stuff. I took hubby once so he could see it, get the feel of it and we left. Nothing down there for me.

Is it a crime in the US to own a fake bag or just to get caught buying one?

If it is a crime to own a fake bag in the US, half the women would be in the slammer or doing community service. They really just go after the sellers. We have a street here where fakes are sold in the back room. The merchants are very selective about who they let in the back - but if they feel you are serious about buying, no problem. Police work undercover there all the time. They pay the fine & are open for business the next day. Many of my friends take their out of town company there, like it is some tourist attractions.

I have many knock offs - I don't think I am "fooling myself" just the people who tell me my knocks offs are FABULOUS assuming they are REAL!!!- someone told me today in the supermarket "Oh I live that Louie" (bag) I said thanks it is a fake - I always admit to a fake -

Now if I could just find a David Yurman fakes store!!!
