New Regent policy. Any cruise not paid off in full within 5 days of the 90 day prior to sailing due date (85 days before sailing) is automatically cancelled. NO exceptions.
At this time we have our final payment due date on our invoices 3 days early in order to give us time to get everything processed and completed should there be any complications.
We are going to change the DUE DATE on our Brown and Keene invoice to 10 days before the real final cruise date. This gives us time to contact everyone, get a response, work on insurance quotes and be sure that no one misses that deadline.
Thought I would let you know we are not trying to get your money to Regent sooner but we cannot risk an automatic cancellation.

Makes a lot of sense to me. No problem on my end. I agree that you the extra time is very much the right thing to do.

Ngaire, a related question. Is there any problem paying off early; perhaps nine months? Is there any impact on getting money back if you cancel later?
thanks,

Not a problem to pay early at all and there are no additional complications in getting a refund if necessary.
I have many overseas clients that do just that due to rate exchanges. Some people pay partial payments up to the time of final payment and that is no problem either.

The policy makes sense. Was the information only sent to TAs? Is it on the web site?
And out of curiosity, what was the prior policy? How much leeway did we have?
Thanks Ngaire . . .

The old policy was to be paid by the due date but there was no repurcissions if a payment was late. If we ever had anyone really late we would call and they would wait and were very flexible.
They were probably too lenient if they were late and people took advantage of that so now they are changing to a strict policy.
It came out to Travel Agencies and I am sure those that book direct with Regent will be advised at the time of final payment.
