Perhaps travel cannot prevent bigotry, but by demonstrating that all peoples cry, laugh, eat, worry, and die, it can introduce the idea that if we try and understand each other, we may even become friends ~~M. Angelou~~

Poor Wendy!! Do they sometimes have special contests just for Canadians? That doesn't seem fair.

10 years ago my DW and I were in our local garden supply store. While standing in the check-out line we observed a box with entry blanks close by and a sign that said, "Win a trip to the Garden Capitals of the World." 2nd place was Butchart Gardens in Victoria, and since I had always wanted to go there I suggested the DW go fill out a couple of entry forms for us.
A couple of weeks later we got a call (which at first we thought was bogus) stating that we had won 1st place...6 days/nights, Singapore air to Singapore and Bangkok (breakfast and city tours included). We booked an extra 3 nights on our own at Patia and had one of the best vacations we could have every imagined.
The moral is (morals are?); 1) real people do win, and 2) it's a fact, that if you don't enter you will NEVER win.
Steve (hopefully doc dancing soon...PG June 10.)

Steve, you won a terrific prize! Congratulations!
Sue, I do hope if you are the winner that history doesn't repeat itself for you, insofar as the aggravation you experienced the last time around.
I can attest to reality of winning a great contest. I entered both my husband's and my names in a Peter Deilmann River Cruise contest in 2004. After entering, months went by and I forgot that I had even entered our names. To our surprise and great pleasure, we received a letter from Deilmann, via FedEx - stating that my husband, Alan, had won! We won $3,000 towards any river cruise they offered. We leave 3 weeks from Sunday!
So, keep entering those contests. If you're a winner, call the cruiseline, hotel, airline, etc. to ensure that your prize is on the up and up.
Denise
Retired and loving it!

Did you un-click the three checkboxes under where you put your e-mail address?? It did odd things like you are talking about to me at first too!
