I have 3 sisters. The 4 of us go on a “sister trip”:each time one of us hits a milestone birthday. The “baby” sister will turn 60 soon and I’m looking for ideas. We have done Santa Fe, Maine, Arizona national parks, Sedona, Cabo, New Orleans, Boston, Napa….. We all live in the Los Angeles area and some are still working so has to be reachable for just a weekend. Anyone have any suggestions for a favorite place?

How about Victoria on Vancouver Island, BC? You could start in Seattle, do a day there, and take the ferry over to the island for the rest of the stay. Highly recommend Butchart Gardens on the island and Chihuly Garden and Glass Museum in Seattle Center.

Thanks Sue. I’ll run that by the others. I have been to the Chihuly and it is really fantastic!

Helen, have you considered. Natchez, Mississippi. It is a lovely town and has some of the best plantations to explore. A great place to visit.

Thank you Carolyn! I have never been there and don’t think the sisters have either! Something to consider

I concur with Carolyn that Natchez is absolutely fantastic; however, I would only go during the Spring or Fall Pilgrimage tours; a lot more houses are open to the public. Here is info on pilgrimages:

I like Sue's idea, too. I'm looking forward to going to Seattle for the first time in April. But, Alice has been there. She enjoyed the Seattle Underground tour. From Wikipedia: "The Seattle Underground is a network of underground passageways and basements in the Pioneer Square neighborhood of Seattle.... They were located at ground level when the city was built in the mid-19th century but fell into disuse after the streets were elevated. In recent decades, they have become a tourist attraction, with guided tours taking place around the area."

In Victoria, staying at the Fairmont Empress Hotel would be cool. There is a very nice High Tea in Lobby Lounge. We both really enjoyed Butchart Gardens there in Victoria.

Since you've already explored places like Santa Fe, Maine, and Cabo, how about discovering the beauty of California's own backyard? Santa Barbara is just a short drive up the coast from LA and offers gorgeous beaches, delicious wine tasting, and a charming downtown area. It's perfect for a weekend escape.Another option could be Laguna Beach, known for its stunning coastal views, art galleries, and relaxing vibes. It's a great place to unwind and enjoy some quality sister time. Also, you can check out some cruises. I found a couple of options for myself on cruisetimetables.com .If you're up for a bit more adventure, a coastal drive up to Big Sur could be amazing. The rugged coastline and breathtaking views make it a perfect spot for a scenic road trip.
