It will be so nice to board a ship and show your card stating I have been vaccinated. Can't wait.

Not sure where to ask this but Ngaire would know. Would Regent be able to cruise Sydney/New Zealand if that opens up? "They" are talking about April next year but that's not Regent's usual time to cruise 'down under'.

Those planned cruises are only open to the approved bubble. Australians and New Zealanders and I think some of the pacific island. So you are in that bubble. Could work for you if they go.

It will likely be several months before the average person can get a vaccine, but at least it is a start. Anna (Ge's wife) is one of the people in charge of distribution here in Tulsa. First vaccines were given today.

Received my first of the 2 injections of the Pfizer covid vaccine today. No side effects so far. Hurt less than a flu shot. Have to go back in 3 weeks for the 2nd.

We are in group 2 with 5.5 million people ahead of us here in LA County. We will be there on the first day it’s available to us in the category of “old people who are reasonably healthy”. —————— Helen

So far Texas has not made a commitment as to who will be next after healthcare workers and residents of long term care facilities. David and I both are in the high risk group (with multiple health conditions plus age), so I hope we will at least be in phase 2, but no specifics yet.

Today was an absolutely wonderful day. After short shopping trips to Home Depot and Kohls we went to downtown Georgetown. The City Square advertises itself as the most beautiful city square in all of Texas; and today it did not disappoint. After moseying through shops (mask on mask off) we stopped at 600 degree pizzeria for pizza and beer; it was absolutely fantastic. We sat outside on the patio where folks had their dogs with them for a relaxing day in town. Later a group of six adults and six kids joined us on the patio; all having a wonderful time. After lunch we walked to the square and saw lots of families enjoying a wonderful day; even a magician was on the square entertaining the kids.
Like Cindy we think we will be in Phase 2; hopefully in the next month or two. Until then we are staying safe and enjoying life.
Marc
PS Our neighbor got an early Christmas gift of a very fancy smoker; looking forward to a wonderful smoked prime rib for Christmas.

What a great day for you and Arlene. It sounds so perfect.
Our outdoor dining is closed..AGAIN. CA has this open/close/open/close merry-go-round going on grrrrr.
One of our kittens "Amy" broke her hip and displaced her knee cap 3.5 weeks ago and had surgery. She's been recuperating full time in a bathroom so we've been house bound so we're cooking in. She hates wearing the "cone of shame" (I told her it was her "Easter Bonnet" but she's not buying it). Luckily, she's scheduled to get her stitches out tomorrow and can vacate the bathroom. Lord be willing, tomorrow will be a day of celebration.
Wishing everyone a very Merry Christmas / Happy Holiday and ALL things better in 2021.

Cindy, didn't stay yesterday but always enjoy the lights downtown. You should drive through Sun City, lots of great lighting displays.
BTW, Texas approved their next phase for vaccination today; anyone over 65 plus anyone that has one or more of a number of co-morbitdities. I think we will probably try to get vaccinated in January.

Just reporting back on my vaccine experience so far. I had absolutely no symptoms at all. If I pushed hard on the spot where the injection was, I could elicit a little tenderness, but much less than a flu shot. My brother in law, also a doctor, got his the same day. He said his arm was a little sore, and he felt a little tired the next day but nothing serious.

Our county, Seminole, got a first batch of Moderna and set up on line appointments for those over 65 next week. All appointment times were fully booked in a couple of hours, but we got a notice and signed up in time. More expected in a few days.

That is even better news. I thought you might have had a special "IN" to get it so fast. Our Baylor Health Portal sent an message and said they could contact us as soon as they had the vaccine available. Texas also has the 65 and older parameter.

You know the feeling you have as you leave your house to go on a cruise? Leaving your house for your first Covid19 vaccination runs a close second. Some administrator in our Seminole County planned for this a few months ago and, this week, we were the first in Florida to get shots for those over 65. Appointments could be made on line for 1/2 hour blocks. We showed up a few minutes early, were sent in to have our credentials checked and fill in a questionnaire and given a number. Our numbers were called after about 5 or so minutes, shots were quick and painless and, after a 15 minute wait to make sure we had no side effects, we got our appointment slots for the second shot in 4 weeks (Moderna vaccine.) Having 1/2 hour groupings avoided long lines and crowding and it was a smooth process. Jim

I found the map of all the facilities that received the vaccinations in our area. Bottom line, lots of calls and no luck.
Doctors offices were giving it to their patients first, understandable. Our doctor is with Baylor, they said they were still on the 1A vaccinations. Found one doctor that suggested I call Tom Thumb they got 500 doses that morning. I called and they did get the doses but STILL on 1A vaccinations not starting 1B yet. Once the 1A is completed, hopefully soon, then I think it will be possible and not such a challenge.

Ngaire, I have contacted Baylor Scott and White at least a half dozen times. I think they are afraid of starting vaccinations with only a limited quantity of vaccine. That is why the state has been so vocal that there should be no hoarding; that if they have vaccine they need to use it. Unfortunately, I think this will turn into a bad scene before it gets good. I figure by next Tuesday we will have a much better picture.

We got on two lists with pharmacy's for future vaccine deliveries. Ken did that on line and we will try and see if we can get on more lists. Definitely going to be pro-active on this issue not just wait to be called by Baylor.

Near as I can see, California doesn’t even have a mechanism in place to get on a wait list!? At this point I don’t think we can expect to get the vaccine before February if then. Maybe Ralph knows more? ———————- Helen

https://txdshs.maps.arcgis.com/apps/webappviewer/index.html?id=91ac7fb5e5fd47e7ada4acfe4a05920aThis is the link I used for Texas. Showed where the vaccine had been received. Texas is now doing 1A and also starting 1B. I put in the search engine within 5 miles of our zipcode and it came up with the list of facilities that had received the vaccine. Also our county, Denton has a list but ran out of vaccine (I missed the announcement on the 30th) and the list is not open again until they get more vaccine. Ken found two pharmacies online from that list that had an online form to fill in and then we were put on a list. They will contact us once they receive more vaccine, supposedly next week. Hopefully California has something similar. We decided to push the envelope not just wait to be called by my doctor in the giant Baylor System.

June and I have nothing really to add regarding CA. All our doctors are in the desert at Eisenhower Medical. A week or so ago we received the following email from our GP. My expectation all along is that it would be the middle of February before we got the vaccine. My daughter in law who is a Director of Nursing at a San Pedro hospital got her first shot over a week ago. She had to go in today as they are so short staffed. Also have a refrigerator truck in the parking lot as the morgue is full. Not good. Covid Vaccine With the release of the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine over this past weekend, Eisenhower Primary Care wants to keep you informed of the latest details of the distribution of this vaccine. While Eisenhower expects to provide vaccines to patients in the future, we currently do not have distribution dates at this time. As your primary care provider, I wanted to let you know that Eisenhower Health will be in contact with you once more information is available. For current CDC and FEMA Information on vaccine distribution, you are also encouraged to go to our Eisenhower Health website ( https://eisenhowerhealth.org/patients-visitors/coronavirus-covid-19-what-you-need-to-know/). In the meantime, it is critically important that you remain vigilant in maintaining COVID-19 safety precautions as we prepare for effective vaccines to become widely available. Over this holiday season, please continue to following CDC and state guidance and wear masks, physically distance yourself from others when possible, avoid unnecessary travel, and be particularly careful when eating and drinking with others. Helen, I have heard that California is vaccinating the homeless over the elderly. Maybe you and Jerry could put on some old duds and walk where you shouldn't and maybe someone will walk up with a needle and volunteer to vaccinate you. ;)

Today the County asked the State for additional vaccine so that they could have Walgreens vaccinate "all" of Sun City; will see if it happens. There are 15,000 residents so 500 a day would take a month just in time to go through and give out the second doses. Hopefully they could do more than 500 per day. Hopefully hear back from the State on Monday and maybe vaccine later in the week.
Talked to both CVS and Randalls today; Randalls pharmacist game me a worried look when I asked about setting up a folding chair in front of pharmacy just to see if they might have an extra dose at end of vial they had to use up.
Hope lives eternal . . .

Russell and I received our first dose yesterday at our local Albertsons’s (United) in Midland. I had called Monday and they called me on Thursday with an appointment . No side effects for me, slight sore arm for Russell.
They were only getting enough to do 24 a day, so I felt very lucky. Our son in law who is a Nurse Practitioner in Abilene got his from HEB on Wednesday
Good luck everyone
