Some comments about booking air in todays environment. June and I have been fortunate to travel recently and have learned a lesson or two that I thought might be helpful.
The airlines are changing flights constantly and not always letting persons who have booked effected flights know. This happened to June and I in late October and again in the last day or two. The flight changes or cancellations required June and I to totally revise our travel dates and plane reservations. In our most recent case I had to cancel an Alaska flight which we were looking forward to and rebook on American leaving LAX a day later and a day earlier on the return. The key is that had I waited a few weeks or until Alaska informed me I do not think the American flights would have been available at the prices I was able to book.
These flights are in mid January and early February. I now have my fingers crossed that the new flights are not changed also.
As a result if you have booked plane reservations it pays to check on the flights every few days.
