I cannot find it now, but I thought someone said in a thread recently that the Navigator now has WiFi throughout the ship. And also thought I saw that they have cellphone capability of some sort on the ship also.
Does anyone know if either/bith of these are in effect, and if so, how the charges work? Thanks

Gil, I think (not sure) that someone at RSSC told Pam no wifi on Navigaotr, but then Ngaire chimed in that there was wifi on Navigator and that often times the reservation people aren't always up to date on these type things. Pam just boarded today so hopefully she can set everyone straight.

Gil...when we disembarked on Dec. 19 they were receiving all the equipment they needed for wifi.
We were told it would be installed during the following week and that the internet might be "down" for that period but that it would be "worth it" when the new system was installed.
One can only guess if they've accomplished the work needed but for Pam's sake I hope so! If we don't hear from her there may be a problem.

Hello - Just wondering if anyone has an update - I may have to call in to work once a day while gone (groan) and cellphone capability would be helpful. Thanks!

Oops, I had reported all of this in my Sea Mail thread. There is supposed to be a form of wifi, with hot spots in the Library, Navigator Lounge and Vista Lounge. When I asked earlier in the trip, I was told that it isn't there yet and she was vague about when it would be. I haven't seen her since, to ask.
As to cell phone service, both Suzie and I tried to make phone calls early in the trip and we both got "call failed". This was when we were anchored in Cozumel, and we haven't tried since.

I just picked this up from Debbie and Clay's WC journal. Maybe this is why Suzie and I couldn't get our calls through; we were in port when we tried. Voyager is part of the Cingular Cruise Ship cell phone network. This means you can pay a roaming charge of $2.49 and use your Cingular phone. Clay is using a Cingular-based Blackberry that provides unlimited data (with no roaming charges) for $64.95 per month. Since the ship is acting as a Cingular cell, he has been able to get his email essentially all the way across the Pacific. The only time he was without it since leaving LA was about 30 minutes one day, and when we were in port in Nuku Hiva. (This ship turns the cell signal off when they enter a port.)
