As some of you know we had to leave our luggage in Acapulco where my husband broke his leg on the VTC cruise.We flew home in an ambulance plane and could not take our luggage .I did not know that until 5 minutes before they picked us up.We left it at the hospital where we spent three days.We tried various ways to get it back after getting back to San Francisco. Aside from the fact that it was very expensive, there were also other problems.
The hospital did not want to unpack the bags and take an inventory.
Our bags arrived yesterday on the Mariner that was coming through San Francisco on the way to Vancouver.A porter met me at the curb and put the bags in the car. Marty still can't walk.Radisson did not charge anything for bringing the bags up from Mexico.What a cruise line!

Bette, thanks for letting us know that the luggage finally got home safely. I'm so glad RSSC stepped up to the plate & provided such great service.

Hope Marty continues to mend and you can have a relaxing cruise to celebrate. Just forewarn the tour desk Marty's not to sign up for adventures without your consent! :D Cheers, Anne

Bette, I've been wondering about y'all; how Marty was doing, and if you ever got the luggage. I'm so glad that at least THAT hurdle is finished, now for the "Marty's much better" one.

Glad to hear that your luggage arrived, safe and sound. Radisson came through big time on this for you. If this happened to us, I would expect no less from Radisson.

He is getting better slowly. He needs to use a walker and wear a brace and walks very slowly for a very short distance.

NEW PROBLEM
I started unpacking and found that we have a lot of stuff missing. It must have happened in Mexico while the bags were waiting to be put on the Mariner.My clothes weren't touched but most of Marty's shirts are gone. The bottle of Stoli I took from the cabin is gone too. I am really mad about the dress shirts because he has a 35 inch sleve which is hard to find.All of the short sleve shirts are gone too.

This has been a problem for years. My husband had it happen at the Miami airport years ago as we were just changing planes to go to Jamaica. About 6 months later Dateline ran an undercover story on the problem in Miami. They video taped the baggage handlers stealing from luggage. I think Miami has really clamped down on this now - but my point is that it happens all over - not in just foreign countries. That is way I am now spooked about not being able to lock checked luggage. I certainly understand the reason why - but it screams "Steal my stuff."

Tumi luggage, in particular, is targeted by would be thieves. I've tried using those TSA certified locks, but those locks have gotten cut by the TSA anyway. What a waste of $20.

Lawrence - really??? Then what's the point of those TSA approved locks? (sigh)

We knew folks on our trip who had their luggage ransacked and a camera taken in Tahiti. We were told to put our bags in our room to be put on the bus and someone went through the bags.

If any of you are going to Tahiti, we found that taking your own cab with another couple from the post-trip day room adds a level of comfort to the trip. We took the bus and it was a cattle call and we found ourselves in a line at the airport in the heat. Those who took a cab, had their luggage in their control, got to the hotel quickly, avoided the lines.

That's really disappointing, Betty. I know it doesn't help much, but will the insurance cover the theft loss? It's so hard when it's an emergency situation. Hope Marty's rehab continues to progress. It's hard work for both of you! here's to steady progress and better mobility. All the best, Anne
