Woo hoo! That Dubai to Civitavecchia segment (March 24 to April 9) is calling out to me. And I can get full elite mileage on Continental by flying Emirates to Dubai.

Whew! I was seriously considering booking the Silversea Suez Canal cruise, but it's looking like I won't have to do that.

Is anyone else interested in this itinerary?

Hi Lawrence,

I am...would like to see what the stops are. I'm inclined for a good balance between sea days and port calls (or spending a couple of days in a really nice port, e.g. Safra and Venice).

Now, if I can convince Peter.... I'm sure after our Mexican cruise, he's is going to want to go cruising again real soon!

Oh here we go...if Tom Cruise finds out that you, Ken and Lawrence are on a cruise without him??? I need time to plant the little seeds and this may take time. If I can't even get him to Istanbul, what are my chances of getting him to Egypt? confused I still am trying to get him to go to Africa with me on a land Safari to see the wild animals! He's a Taurus (like Neviboy) and they're tough cookies! I'm the "Libra" that's up for anything, anytime! :)
Guess the verdict is still out.

Looks like I am following you around the board tonight. I am certainly ready to do a safari. After watching Matt Lauer in Botswana last week, that certainly sounded like the safest place to do a safari. So in the far away land of the future & if your husband won't go, we could just hop a plane & do our own safari. Or do you not like to travel without your DH beside you? Some people don't.
Luckily, I won't be asked to do a "slide presentation" in LV on Egypt. Boring!!!!! But a few weeks later, I will try to post some photos.

Marcie, Since Istanbul is NOT a stop on this itinerary, maybe Tom will want to go? How's that for specious logic? :D

So far, Mark says it is too many nights. I'm back to looking at the Silverseas British Isles cruise, but I'll hang in there until the RSSC schedule is carved in stone.

When are the two Egypt trips (Silverseas and Radisson) in 2005 and what ships are they? Do you know any of the ports or the approximate prices as yet? Does either line have a cruise that also stops in Israel? Thanks.

As far as I can tell, neither RSSC nor Silversea will be stopping at any Israeli ports in 2005. This is highly unfortunate.

Pam,

Which Silverseas journey are you considering?

The newly refurbished Silver Cloud will be sailing a nearly identical sailing on March 29, 2005 (14 nites - from Dubai thru the Suez to Port Said) as being offered by the Radisson Voyager during her Grand World Cruise. Later on in the year, the Silver Shadow will will sail a similar 15 day itinerary starting November 7 2005. This itinerary offers a port of call in Sharm el Sheikh, Egypt featuring the historical Sinai peninsula, St. Catherine's Monastery, and some spectacular marine life snorkeling.

If you don't want to wait until 2005, the Silver Cloud will be there in October 2004.

All these itineraries in this part of the world sound interesting to me...Ron and I are definitely there in 2005!

Oh my goodness, I can't take this cruise, but just look at the ports. If you go, you lucky people will get to go to Petra. That is the thing place I wish I could go as a side trip from Egypt, but alas!
It was such a bummer when I knew I couldn't go there - promised my family I would stay out of countries that border on Iraq - but LV will make up for it. Besides, I have a lot of Eygpt to see.
Looks like a great cruise to me.

Betty,
I have been fascinated with Petra ever since I saw it in an Indiana Jones movie. Some day, I WILL go to Petra, Luxor and the pyramids.

Hi All,

I'm with you, Karen. It's been a dream of mine to visit Egypt and the pyramids. Petra fascinated me after the Indy movie, too. Unfortunately my trip will have to be 3+ years down the road, after retirement. But I'll be ready then!!

;) Beth
