Good afternoon from the UK.
I spotted this thread and noticed a little inactivity for a while.
Having only recently returned from a Viking River Cruise along the Elbe that culminated in a few days in Berlin I thought I might add a new aspect to the thread.
I do thoroughly agree with member JBittle above. It is possible to walk to almost all the sites worth visiting in Berlin.
That is what my wife and I did having armed ourselves with a trusted guide book...

A little time spent pre-planning your preferred sites/itinerary will prove well worthwhile, as is choosing a central hotel as your base.
Of course no visit to Berlin is complete without a walk through the
Brandenburg Gate...
