David and I are returning to the Amazon for another week of Peacock Bass (tucunaré) fishing - we did this a couple of years ago. Our "cruising" is aboard an 8 "suite" houseboat . Although we do have private "bathrooms", it's not exactly a Regent 5 star experience! But we are there to fish, not be pampered! We do still enjoy all different types of experiences!

Denise,
Sounds like a great trip bonvoyage. Please make sure you let us know how it goes.

Donna,
We'll try to leave the Shadow in tact for your use smiles. There is at least one couple from UK that are getting on with us and staying on to Shanghai. In the FWIW category there is a SS Meet 'N' Mingle set up for your cruise on the CC board if you're interested.

Ray and I are doing the Rocky Mountaineer Train trip from Vancouver to Vancouver, "the Grand Rail Circle"...September 4th to 16th 2014.

This is our 50th anniversary on the 5th, and Ray really wanted to do this trip as did I. Needless to say we are doing the Gold Leaf Deluxe Service.More bang for your buck.

Here is their addy: http://www.rockymountaineer.com

I called them direct and booked it very early(back in Nov.2012) and got an $800.00 pp value package as well.

2013 is our year of land travel only...March was Barbados, April was Iqaluit, September British Columbia and Alberta.

Would have loved to have done a cruise in September, but no itineraries appealed to us.

Cheers,

Pat and Ray

DonnaG,

You and your husband will not be the lone LCT cruisers on your leg! Mark and I and John and Tonya will be joining you!! dance It will be the 4th time on Silversea for all of us and second on the Shadow.

Mark and I are spending three nights in Tokyo precruise (J & T for one night) staying at the Westin and we are all spending four nights in Shanghai postcruise at Le Royal Meridien. We are venturing into Beijing on our own and overnighting at The Fairmont.

Looking forward to meeting you and will join the Meet and Mingle on CC.

Great to know someone on the cruise. It's our 2nd Silversea cruise.
We are going to be in Tokyo 1 night precruise and in Shanghai 2 nights after. I'm still planning what we are going to do in Beijing. I've been there twice but my husband has not been there. However, he is not the sightseer that I am and, being diabetic, has a difficult time with walking distances. I do tend to book private cars with guides for our travels together and that works for us.
I'm looking into taking the high-speed train into Beijing, mid-morning, with a guide, touring by car for the afternoon and overnighting at Fairmont, Raffles or the like. Then we would sightsee or shop(he's the shopper) the next morning but get back on board ship by afternoon. Still working on it as well as working on the other ports.
