Here is the 1 January extent of the sea ice. ![[Linked Image]](http://arctic.atmos.uiuc.edu/cryosphere/NEWIMAGES/antarctic.seaice.color.000.png) Antarctic peninsula is on bottom. Dark purple is bad. Here is the 30 day animation of the sea ice; it may take a while to load. Antarctica Peninsula is on top. Again, dark purple is bad. It appears to my untrained eyes that sea ice has gotten worse in last couple of weeks. :(

What a treat!!!!
I'm envious - we have a bit of snow here now but not a penguin in sight!
Would love to go back to Antarctica - a second "cruise of a lifetime!"
(Just noticed there is a Case Island in lower left of Marc's wonderful map.)
