I was looking over the schedule this morning for a good deal and so far, I was liking this one. Anyone interested in a crossing?

March 20th 2013 crossing on the Mariner, Miami to Barcelona. 15 days, $800 shipboard credit and eligible for the Society discount.

I'm not sure this would work for some...it has similar ports to Grand Prix (which is a plus for those not on Grand Prix) but the date overlaps with Taj Mahal cruise.

Crossings are always FUN with several delicious sea days - and reasonably priced!

It appears we have a little 'MOOSE reunion competition! Alice and I and some other MOOSies will be going on ORCA in May 2013. So, we'll have to keep FUN5 (or maybe 6) in mind! Not enough $ or vacation to do both cruises spring 2013. sad

This is too good of a deal to pass up and I have never been to Bermuda so I am booked. I sure hope some other LCTers come with us, I have never been alone on a ship since the Song of Flower!!
Suzie, are you still considering this one?

Anyone who has been on this itinerary before, what sort of cool weather clothing should I bring? Is a sweater enough or will I need something heavier?

Karen - you might need a warmer jacket. The weather in Europe will probablly be much like the East Coast. We needed jackets in Paris in Nov before Grand Prix for sure, and it wasn't too cold but not super warm even in Monte Carlo.

Have fun.

Karen -
Ken and I were on the same crossing on the Mariner in March this year and have been on several others as well. The route from Florida to Europe is very southern and from Bermuda to Madeira you are moving on an almost perfect line west to east.
We left FLL and it was hot - about 28C. By Bermuda, two days sail and north east of Florida, it was around 24C. And it stayed that way until the day after we left Funchal. Then as we started into the Med and going up the spanish coast it got cooler and when we got off in Barcelona it was 18C for a high. We had really really good weather. Every evening we sat on our balcony (SS Aft - so huge!) and had a drink watching the sun set right into the wake of the ship. And without any pashmina etc. Not needed. Once in spain we got rain and needed jackets.
Hope this helps you pack!!
Gerry

We did this with Ngaire and others in 2008 and it was one of our favorite trips. Agreed that the weather can be mixed. I will bring layers. Look fwd to sailing with you again.
