Tomorrow there will be no more Continental :(

Continental name goes away Saturday
Merged airlines to be known only as United

HOUSTON -

United and Continental airlines merged in 2010, but this weekend the two will physically become one as their systems are merged.

United will officially transfer all of Continental's reservation and frequent flyers into one system. They will work from a single website, and tickets will only say United Airlines.

The airline also worked to get rid of Continental gate signs signs at 372 airports nationwide.

The physical changes will be a massive undertaking. Any problems could mean delays and mix-ups for passengers.

The airline has already held a number of dress rehearsals to make sure the switch over goes smoothly.

The last Continental flight takes off Friday night at 11:59 p.m. from Phoenix, Ariz. When flight 1267 lands early Saturday morning in Cleveland, it will be a United flight.

We are flying out of Newark in about 10 days to Hong Kong on tickets that were purchased a few months ago and say Continental. United has changed the flight numbers so we are expecting problems at check in. It should be a very interesting afternoon. :)

Booked Continental when we went to VT over Xmas, but all the flights were on United metal. More amusing than anything else. No issues.

HI JOANNA!!! It's so nice to hear from you. After a very difficult year dealing with my daughters illness (she seems to be holding her own right now)and the death of my father we are off to Hong Kong for some R&R. We are staying at the Four Seasons this time. The Penn is closed for a redue of the tower. Can't wait to get on that plane and just try and relax!!
