Thought I would post this just to get you excited for the weekend. This was from an email (actually someone who reads LCT) that I got back from a client who went to Leopard Hills. She may read this but I dont think she posts.

"Leopard Hills was the highlight of our trip mainly due to the people and our guide and tracker. Anytime your teenagers are ready at 5:30am you know that they are enjoying themselves. Our guide and tracker made the whole stay wonderful. We had unbelievable luck in unusual sightings such as leopards mating, a lioness and 8 babies, a cheetah, lions dining on a hippo, over a hundred water buffalo stampeding for the water hole, a leopard in a tree with a fresh kill above our heads. Even when the viewing was a bit slow the guide gave unbelievable explanations about life in the bush. The accomodations and food were excellent. The ammenities in the room such as the homemade chocolates, cookies etc. made the accomodations warm and comfortable. We were all sad to leave and wished that our stay was longer."

Now they DID have incredible sightings do not go expecting that. Seeing a cheetah is so rare in the Sabi Sands area. The moon and stars must have been in the right place for their trip.

If they are having such good luck with game drives in June; why didn't we consider June for ROAR II?

They did not go in June Marc, this is an OLD email they went in AUGUST 05, so August and September should be about the same. I just showed this email feedback because she does post on LCT and might chime in here.

The LONG grasses we hit in April make it harder to see game. THey were higher than normal because of the amount of rain.

The off season is best for game viewing. By the time frame July, August, September, October it is better, the grass has died back. With September being prime because the grass is still low and it is not as cold.

Dont mess with the dates. They are really perfect. NOTE when TUSK is going this was MY choice for 2006. Nothing wrong with April either, it was just the rain that made the grasses so high.

When the rains start in November the grass grows again and then it is very high for the months rainy season months of Nov, Dec, Jan, Feb, starts dying back in March, April..

The cycle continues.

Ngaire, thanks for the explanation. You can tell my priorities when it comes to the game parks. ;)

I think one jeep on ROAR1 saw a cheetah. I don't remember who saw it though....not ours...I remember being jealous.
