Ngaire, you were so right. Our experience so far has been nothing but awesome. Aside from the beauty of the setting, wonderful facilities and great staff, our game drives have been truly amazing. First drive-a large group of elephants with some cute babies, Jessica spied a lurking hyene behind our Range Rover while John and Tonya, Olivia and Jessica, Bert and I were concentrating on three rhino directly in front of us. I wish I could figure out how to get that large and stay almost invisible! Various antelope and a herd of Cape buffalo reflected in our searchlight as we concluded our sundowners. This morning's drive will be very hard to beat-a handsome male cheetah high on his favorite termite mound who had eaten recently enough that the entire right side of his face was still red. Then a young leopard who ended up trying to take a nap under our range rover while several other vehicles came to take pictures. Photos of the leopard were free, but the six in our vehicle are charging 3 Rand for every photo of us published on the web. A glimpse of a hippo in a small watering hole, a giraffe in the distance then, as we headed back for breakfat, a true highlight, 5 female and two male lions enjoying a fresh kill. We did not see the kill, but the sounds of bones cracking and lions growling and competing over their meal will never be forgotten. Then time for breakfast and a nap. Now I am refreshed and ready for more. Weather has been much cooler than expected and many have purchased more warm weather gear at the shop-mpre tomorrow. Now we can better appreciate what those of you lucky enough to have been on ROAR I have been talking about-

Mitch, the game viewing so far has already hit the Big 5 in only two drives! On ROAR 1, the only leopard we saw from my vehicle was so deep behind the grasses we hardly saw it, and we never saw a cheetah! This was a fantastic morning, especially the cheetah sitting up on the high termite mound posing as if he were being paid for a photo shoot for Africa Geographic!

We also saw the morning kill half eaten by the leopard that she had carried up a tree nearby. Apparently there is a blog on the Leopard Hills website about a particular Leopard, and the cat we saw today is her first daughter. Life is good here in Leopard Hills!
