How many of you are thinking of flying into Auckland an extra day, so you arrive on 11/30/07 instead of 12/01/07?
Reason I ask is looking at air schedules it seems like you either arrive at 5:30/6:00 am or 2:00 pm
Just don't know what to do. confused confused confused

Another Question:
LAX Airport.
When you arrive from your domestic flight and need to go to the Thomas Bradley international what is the best way to get there? Do they have a shuttle system or something?
I don't know because we have always flown in, caught the hotel shuttle and overnighted.

We are scheduled to arrive Auckland on 12/1 at 5:15 a.m. on an Air New Zealand flight out of SFO. At this time, we're not planning on any schedule changes. I assume that B&K and Regent will have accomodations arranged so that upon our arrival we'll go directly to the hotel for some much needed R&R. We have not been given hotel info, has anyone received that info?

We're both looking forward to a fun trip and the making of new friends.

They do have a shuttle system, but, depending on the connecting airline it could be better to just walk. Not all flights for New Zealand or Australia leave out of Tom Bradley. So if you are flying United you will not go out of Tom Bradley. I think Qantas is in Terminal 4 too. Airlines are frequently changing terminals since LAX is sadly doing some runway construction.

Here is the official LAX Website:

It is important to check with the airline. Qantas does use both the American terminal 4 and the Bradley terminal. I am on QF 26 ticketed as AA 7337 leaving on 11 27 07 that leaves at 8:30pm and am told it leaves from the Bradley International Terminal.

I would suggest doing a google search for LAX and looking at the map to decide if the walk makes sense. There are shuttle buses that will take you from one terminal to another. LAX is a U shape with T 1 starting at the lower right. Bradley is at the top of the U.

I've been to LAX a few times, but never have gone from Domestic to international on the same day.

We will be flying to LAX on Delta from Salt Lake.
Terminal 5
Have not booked yet but we are looking at Air New Zealand for LAX to Auckland. Terminal 2
Is that to far to walk??
On a flight like this can we book our luggage all the way to AKL or do we have to pick it up and re check it at ANZ when we get to LAX airport?
We are also looking at flying into LAX late on the 28th and then fly out on the 29th. (just another option)

Karen. WONDERFUL NEWS you are going. I have you on the list. :app: :nw:

Jim,

I would answer that by saying if you travel like we do with two bags each and a carry on, yes. If you pack light and have one carry on and one rolling suitcase each then you might walk it. You can walk in a straight line (with a little zig zag) across and then through the parking lots or you can walk around the U but then it really is too far. How much time would you have between flights would also impact that answer. Since your flight to NZ would require you to check in as if you hadn't flown that day, I think you'd need two hours minimum between your flights at least.

Editing to add that your could also get a Smarte Carte for $2-3 and roll everything across that way too. Timewise, the shuttle is not constant so walking will take as much time as the shuttle will. Traffic can be bad depending on time of day and departure level and arrival levels are different too!

Thanks ChatKat.
Yes we both have two checked bags and each a carry on.
Delta arrives somewhere around 4:35 pm and AZN is around 7:45 pm departure if we decide to do this arrangement.
Does the LAX airport shuttle charge to go around and around from one terminal to the next?
As I said before we have always gotten a hotel shuttle before since we overnighted.

I answered my own question.

LAX Shuttle & Airline Connections
NO CHARGE. Approximately every 12 to 15 minutes
"A" shuttle
Under Blue Sign
Lower / Arrival Level Islands
in front of each terminal.
