Susan and I just left Horta, Azores and are sailing to Madeira. The World Cruisers didn't do too much damage to Voyager, and she is in pretty good shape. I mean, well, she is as beautiful as ever and the staff is great, but we have had some minor mechanical problems involving one of the pods.

We did get to Horta on time, with manual steering and a technician is now on board and Captain Knute assures us we will arrive in Barcelona on time. Too bad, we were hoping to be delayed!!

This is our first time on Voyager, and it is our favorite ship - including all other cruise lines we have tried. The only thing it is missing is a top flight coffee bar (which, I understand, they have just put in the Mariner). Hopefully, when Voyager dry docks in December, they will update her with one also.

Captain Knute is refreshed from his vacation and is quite personable and a lot of fun. We have had a casual dinner with him one evening in Compass Rose and we ran into him and a new friend up at the Caldera in Feial (the island Horta is on).

This has also been quite a party ship, with more nightlife going on for much longer than any ship we have ever been on. We're talking 2-3 a.m., even before the time change.

We changed to an aft cabin (883) at the last minute since it was still available, and we are thrilled with our decision. Yes, there is some additional vibration, but nothing that doesn't help put you to sleep after a long night with friends in the Voyager Lounge. And, on the Eastbound crossing we have had wonderful sun every afternoon with virtually no wind. I swear, Susan and I will have better tans after this cruise than we typically do in the Caribbean!!

Anyway, we miss all our LCT friends busily trying to keep out of everyone's way on Silversea, but we think we chose the best Spring itinerary!!

Hey Jeff and Susan, your cruise sounds so enjoyable!!! I often wondered about how those Horizon suites would be. How wonderful to be enjoying that big balcony in the sunshine - I am so envious! I can't wait to try the Voyager, as it seems to be everyone's (well, the majority here) favorite ship. Continue to enjoy, and we hope to hear from you often!

Writing you today from Malaga, Spain. Sunny, warm morning but clouding up this afternoon. Susan is a bit under the weather so we had to cancel our excursion to Granada. Well, always need to leave something on the table for next time!!

Overall, quite incredible weather for the North Atlantic on this crossing. Virtually every day has been mostly sunny and in the high 60's. Slightly rough seas yesterday, but nothing to write home about (hah!).

Susan did get a call from our daughter Lauren on Mother's day. With the 9 hour time difference now between here and California, calls waiting until after 6 p.m. our time. Still, plenty of time to then get ready for dinner at Signatures, which was superb. We were thrilled that one of the side dishes with the Veal was a dish we made in our cooking class - we got to compare texture and flavor with ours.

We're back on the ship and will probably start packing this afternoon. We checked the weather in Barcelona for later this week and it looks like a cold front is moving in, so mostly jeans and sweaters.
