back from our med cruise and it was wonderful - except for taking a fall outside the coliseum in rome and breaking my wrist. that experience is a long story of little value to anyone else so here goes a short report. please forgive this typing - i've found everything is very difficult with one hand.
this was a girls cruise with 3 first time cruisers so i was nervous - partcularly since i had never been on the navigator. our weather was perfect - flat seas - cool and gorgeoous. they thought it perfect. i was more impressed with the crew than ever before and the food gets 5 *****. personally i couldn't help comparing to the mariner and the voyager and must admit if i had a choose on the same time and itinerary i would chose one of the later. we only had 380 aboard so nothing was crowded but the pool area could get that way. the entertainment was so - so and i missed the big observation lounges on the front. i guess the biggest minus was no alternative restaurants - portofino was good but a little corny. all that said the navigator is personal and intimate and i wouldn't hesitate to do it again. just give me 2 hands next time.
we had great hotels in paris - nice & athens and wonderful guides. nice is charming for a few days and i was so glad we hadn't stayed in monte carlo - although it was a great sail away port. to me athens has gotten a bad wrap. we stayed in the middle of the Planka and it was charming & fun - very much like the French Quarter.
Email me if anyone needs details on guides and hotels. i'm to have surgery monday so it will be awhile til my typing is up to speed. i only missed one day of excursions - just kept going and luckily didn't have a lot if pain. i surprised myself at 68.
THE NAVIGATOR looks good and is deligtful. i am looking forward to the Black Sea next july.

Anaclaire, I'm so sorry that you broke your wrist while on the cruise. Sounds like you made the best of it, though. Good luck with your surgery and keep us updated.

Hi Jan,
I am so glad the girls trip went well, but sorry about the wrist injury. Tom and I were in Rome from the 2nd to 5th of May...did we crossed paths by any chance? Also were in Paris from May 24-28th. Looking forward to cruising the Black sea with you and Charles next summer!
Cheers, Pam
PS Get well soon!

Jan, Thanks for your review! I agree with you, the Navigator certainly does have her own special charm! So sorry to hear about your accident. Glad it did not hinder your good time too much. Best wishes on your surgery.

Jan: Enjoyed your report and sorry about your wrist - good luck with your surgery - we, too, enjoyed Athens - it was a pleasant surprise. We were forced to overnight due to flight schedule - had a wonderful day and evening and loved the Plaka and our hotel - Joanna

Jan ~ Sorry about the mishap (misstep?) in Rome, but so glad your trip was wonderful! Totally agree with your assessment of the Navigator...and we also loved Athens, especially the Plaka! What hotel in Paris? Good luck with the healing!
