As a loyal Regent single cruiser, with almost Titanium status, I decided to compare a Silversea cruise. This was brought on by the Regent decision to charge 200% Single Supplements. SS offers 150% Single supplements, with some at 110% and 125%.
I chose a 110% Caribbean cruise on Silver Cloud. As a smaller ship the entertainment was limited. I recognise that food comparisons depends on personal tastes, but the food on Cloud was very comparable to Navigator. I had a Prime rib in the restaurant which was better than the one I tried in Prime 7.Excursions were not complimentary but value for the money. One thing that I should point out, the great service was equal. In fact there were many of the old Diamond and Navigator crew who still recognised me and addressed me by name immediately. Overall impressions were very favorable. If you are a Titanium couple travelling, then the "benefits" of free e-mail, newspapers, phone, laundry and the "free" excursions , probably swing the decision in favor of Regent but singularly I lean towards Silversea. ( You can purchase a lot with the single supplement savings!)
