It has been quite a while since I have posted a poll about the demographics of LCTers. Here is an easy poll "for couples only."

How long have you been together?

Marc - I just voted to reflect the 35-years-in-September for which Pat & I have been together.

You will also be happy to learn that tonight we are watching (thanks to Netflix) the movie, "The Fountainhead", based on the novel by Ayn Rand, whom you quote in your signature. Of course, that quote is from "Atlas Shrugged", which, it appears, will never be seen in a movie adaptation. It's a powerful novel which may simply not be adaptable into a more compact format. Nonetheless, I am looking forward to seeing Patricia Neal play the strong female character in "The Fountainhead", clearly reflecting Rand's notion of herself, no??

Fred, I haven't seen the fountainhead in decades; it is a great movie. I was just perusing the day's news; I think Ayn Rand might be saying "I told you so" if she were still with us.

Congratulations on 35 years; we are only up to 16.

Marc,I just voted(#25).Our CAPTAINS cruise and vacation in London is our celebration of 45 years of marriage.I do believe that "someone else" will also be celebrating their 45th anniversary on this cruise.Break out the GOOD bottles of wine!!

Tom and I will celebrate our 33rd anniversary in July. Congrats to those who have us beat; Fred/Pat and Pat/Ray! :app:

Our trip to Rio, if we make it, will mark 30 years together. In fact, we moved in together on December 1st, after having a whirlwind romance that started on October 21st, so we had a courtship of just a few weeks. Our actual wedding anniversary isn't until the following May, but heck, we'll celebrate that later!

Today (well technically Feb 29th) is our 45th wedding anniversary--or actually our 11 1/4th anniversary if you want to stay technical about it. But we contemplated whether or not to take the plunge for about 5 years before we got married--guess that makes us together for 50 years. Yikes!!! For those of you who know Jerry, it wasn't hard :rolleyes:

Jim; At first I read your post as saying you were married on September 38 for 24 yrs - DUH!!!

Brian and I will have been married for 43 years in March (went 'steady' for about four years' before that) but I think we may have a penalty issued here as he refuses to cruise with me. What do you think? Lee

In January we celebrated our 44th anniversary. My how the years fly by! We were almost as quick in our decision as Wendy & David. We met the last week of August, got engaged in September & set our wedding date for January - while people were still on school break (we did not want to wait until summer.)

Jim & I went on our first date over Memorial Day weekend and in August we decided to get married. I left for law school in September & we eloped when I was home for Christmas break on New Year's Eve. I returned to New York to finish my first year & we were secretly married until I came home for Easter. We just celebrated our 37th.

DH and I celebrated #42 this past Wed. 2/25, still the coldest day for that date in ATL, 9F, altho' the radio that AM said 5F !!!

The actual wedding was "down south" a bit at Callaway Gardens where it may have been in the 20s!

We have 38 years on June 5th. I was 20 yrs. old and John was 23; fresh out of Pharmacy school. Time goes so fast! Almost all of our friends that were married around the time we were 1971,1972,1973 are still married today. judy & John

What a great thread! And so nice to see so many happy couples. Leonard and I have been together for 20 years, but we've only been married for 15. We're looking forward to many, many more years!

Greg and I have been together 20 years, married almost 19. Having just moved YET AGAIN this past weekend (we bought a house in Fort Worth after being here a year), this poll made me think to do a count, and we have moved 15 times in the 20 years we've been together (albeit many were within the same area/city). UGH! :mad: :rolleyes: :mad: Hopefully the "work gods" and all other "circumstances" will leave us alone for awhile and let us stay put!

We've moved just 3 times. We currently live less than 40 miles from where Bill grew up. I always tell people that I'm from Pennsylvania, but that Bill has just slowly moved westward.

We have you all beat.
We have been married 52 years as of last December.

I think I may end up being alone in the less than one year category. We celebrated our two month anniversary on Valentine's Day.

However, we did meet 41 years ago.

That works for me Susan.
Jan and I met 43 years ago. :D

Met in Brooklyn Heights, New York and married in England 38 years ago this Sept.
