For some reason, I'm having a little trouble "defining" Country Club Casual dress for women.

Could some of you ladies give me an idea of what you wear on CCC evenings?????

Hi Claudia,

One thing is for certain, neither ladies nor gents can't wear jeans or shorts after 6pm on any night!. Think smart casual, us ladies have a little more leeway. The way you do CCC will be based on the time of year/area/temperature. For example, on our recent Mexico cruise, CCC nights saw a lot of Hawaiian shirts, sundresses, sleveless tops. But this obviously won't work where it is colder. Sometimes on CCC I still dressed up as if it were informal, just because I really don't get to dress up much at home.

My own personal ideas on CCC are:

For Men: Nice trousers, a merino sweater or oxford, loafers, maybe a blazer, maybe not.

For Women: A dress/skirt & nice blouse or coordinated seperates, trousers and a sweater top, trousers a shell and blazer, a silk scarf around the neck is nice (Hermes, of course) and a shawl in case it's cooler.

Men have it way easier. Although I have been known to match my socks with my sweater and will from-time-to-time don an ascot (when I'm really feeling Fred Astaireish..).

I'm sure I missed something for the ladies, so enuf out of me...tho it scares me when I use phrases like coordinated seperates...I guess I am my mothers son.

Black Tie means formal. Men wear tuxedos, women wear cocktail, long dresses or dressy evening separates.

White Tie means ultra-formal.

Men wear full dress, with white tie, vest, shirt. Women wear long gowns.

Semi-formal is the trickiest of all dress codes. Usually it means that tuxes are not required, nor are long dresses. An evening wedding (after 6 PM) would still dictate dark suits for him, and a cocktail dress for her. Daytime semi-formal events mean a suit for him and an appropriate short dress or dressy suit for her.

Cocktail Attire means short, elegant dresses for her and dark suits for him.

Dressy Casual usually means no jeans or shorts. Similar to business casual, but a tad dressier.

Casual generally means anything goes.

Informal can mean the same as casual. However, when associated with a wedding or other special event, some form of decorum and good taste should prevail. A dress for her or a nice pair of slacks and shirt for him are informal, but respectful of the event.

Our last night on the Mariner was CCC and I used an Hermes scarf...as a top!

I too am a newbie and was curious like Claudia this is a help. I'm also wondering about the 1 informal night on a Bermuda cruise - just how dressy is informal?

Hermes ( be still my heart ) My husband wouldn't know Hermes from Honda. So there are a few out there that recognize a top of the line scarf and I have 2. Just bought another one in St. Barths.

Lol, Robert! It's a real good looking one too, hot pink border, cream middle and an American Indian chief on it. If you tie it right, it is a halter top of sorts, backless. You tuck in the extra material at the bottom and make a cummerbund like wrap.

Suzie...You can also tell him the cute Hermes bangles (I'm wearing one today, with leopards of course) came from a flea market, he'll never notice (the Hermes stores here in the now carry them). They've got some really fun ones in a variety of colors.

Kathy, when we did our Bermuda cruise last year on the Navigator, ccc means: Men had on there polo shirts with there pants and the woman came with capri's which were really hot last year and wore a sweater set with them. Black is great color for your pants and dress it up or down with the tops. The casual night we all had gotten outfits over in Bermuda and wore those that night- Fresh Produce outfits. Very colorful and very comfortable. Last year, I went with a few matching pant outfits, short skirts, and then several capri outfits. I hope this helps. Mix and Match is the way to go for packing. Well you pretty much describe what I plan on taking so I think I will be set. I love Mix & Match and it gives you lots of variety depending on the mood.
Still not sure what they wear on informal night - but I can wing it. Dressing the hubby is always the easiest part - I'm the hard one.

Any more input from females, particularly for New England-Canada cruise? Going in June; doesn't seem to call for tropical attire.
