As some of you know (and some of you met him at Bellagio last month), my brother is a professional poker player.

Good news! He just called me from Las Vegas (Binions Horseshoe World Series of Poker). Good news: He made the final table; Bad news: He has the smallest stack of chips of the 9 players at the final table. He's doing well considering there were more than 700 players who started. This is for some BIG BUCKS! He just completed an ESPN interview. This final table will be televised on ESPN. He resumes playing at 8:30pm tonight...we'll see what happens!! :) :)

WOW!!!! Congrats to your brother and I wish hime the best of luck. I know the competition is stiff but chip counts can chage very quickly. Who knows, maybe he can win that 2.5 million!

Here's the latest update...it looks like my brother was eliminated and came in 7th in this event. The playing went to the wee hours of the morning and will resume this afternoon. It's down to 3 players now. My brother's name is Mickey Mills (he often goes by Mickey "Mouse" Mills...sometimes Michael Mills). BTW, this may not be aired for a couple of weeks or even months. Vaswani raises, and Mills raises all in for $75,000 more. Vaswani calls. Mills has Ks Qs, Vaswani has A-10. The board comes 3s 2c 6c 7s 3h. Mills makes a flush draw on the turn but misses on the river. Mills is eliminated in 7th. Vaswani becomes chip leader with about $450,000.

He's just out of ONE event...more to go! Actually, he started in 9th at the final table but finished in 7th so he held his own from 8:30pm - 12:30am. ;)
Most people think the World Series of Poker is one event but it actually goes on for about a month or so consisting of many events and various types of poker games .
He had already qualified for the BIGGEST event of all (No Limit Hold'em) which begins on May 22nd. The prize pool on this one event alone is in excess of $2,500,000. :eek:
That event will conclude the 2004 series.

ESPN will be televising the No-Limit Hold 'Em tournament on August 17 @ 9:00pm Eastern time (maybe it's 9:00 in all time zones since this isn't live)

I do know that this particular event is one where my brother finished 7th. I've seen these shows where they sometimes begin the show by saying "we're down to these final 5 players" etc. it all depends on how long the final few last as to where they edit and how much of the final table they actually televise. They may or may not show all 9 players at the final table...it's anyone's guess!

August 17th?? Wow ... you're probably going to have to remind us, Marcie. I can barely remember what I'm supposed to be doing 3 days from now, much less 3 months from now! (oh yeah, don't I have a cruise or something coming up? :D )
