I was browsing another site, namely Cruise Critic. A poster asked a question about the Radisson Mariner Jan 06 cruise they are going on. Prior to finding this site I posted a question about Mariner in July 05 about anyone going on the SA Jan 06 cruise.( which we are on) Not 1 response . Anyway, when I tried to put LCT's URL in a message to this person to go to this site, the URL will not display!!! I tried pasting, typing etc and it would display www.xxxxxxxxxxxxx.com I guess if you are not interested in Carnival CC isn't interested in letting you find relevent sites for other ships.

The rule here is only that we have happy posts and we are polite to one another, which is why most of us post here and not at that other site. Here we can get answers and our posts don't disappear. I rarely post on that board anymore.

This board started because many of our posts were disappearing there and because there were people being insulted, name calling etc. Ngaire is a doll for giving us this space and Karen, as our moderator is fair about our posts.

We just want to have fun and share our knowledge here.

I agree with u. I used to use that "other"site and they were rude etc. I just thought it strange that CC would not allow any other forums to display their URL. I did send the poster my email address and told him to email me and I would give him the LCT site

Just went back to the Cruise Critic site and THEY DELEATED MY ANSWER TO THE POSTER TO GO TO THIS SITE. That site is unreal. What are they afraid of?

CC has a rule against mentioning other cruise sites (and perhaps other types of sites as well) in posts on their board. Their board, their rules --- not mine. On the other hand, THIS board has rules too. And the main rule is to be courteous to other posters, even if you disagree with their opinions. Oh, sure, you can disagree, but you must be OBJECTIVE in your disagreement, and not express or imply that the other poster is stupid or lying. And here, that's about it for rules.

I can understand rules...but I think that CC has gone "overboard"

Well, we do have a few more rules other than the "Nice post" rule. No off-colored language and no politically charged posts. :) We don't have these two rules posted anywhere as they are seldom broken.

As I understand it, the reason that CC has stated that it does not allow other forums to be mentioned in a post is that they consider it a form of advertising for a travel agency. Most cruise forums have some connection to a travel agency, and CC has a very explicit and strictly enforced rule against any advertising or even mentioning other travel agencies. CC is financed by Carnival, as well as by paid advertisers, whose banners you can see on their site. I've been told that any mention of any other travel agency violates their agreements with their sponsors.

So while I fully agree that CC has really trigger-happy moderators (in terms of deleting posts for bizarre or unknown reasons), this is a purely business reason, or so I've been told.
