Marc and I are finally getting settled in Belgium (And unpacking our 247 boxes!) I finally got my IPod out and put it on my docking station and get... nothing. The docking station seems to be charging ok but the I Pod won't play. So... I tried charging just the I Pod and the screen doesn't show anything.... it is just blank, when it usually shows that it is charging....so my question... has anyone ever had one just "die" on them before? Mine is probably about 5 yearss old.

Hi Arlene-
I have had to reset my iPod on several occasions. It is pretty simple task. Just look up iPod help either by launching your iPod program on the computer or directly from the Apple site. Once you reset the iPod, you attach it to your computer and it will reload all of your music. Bert and I are looking forward to seeing you in August.

I have not experienced the total blank screen, but I have had them lock up on me before. There is reset procedure, but not sure if it would help you if you aren't able to power it on. Not sure what model you have, but here's the procedure for the classic:

Wasn't sure from your description, but have you tried connecting it to your computer? If you turn it on while connected, you might be able to open it up under iTunes and troubleshoot from there.

You might also try toggling the hold switch - sometimes, even though it may be in the unlocked position, it gets confused!

And then there is the possibility the battery may just be totally dead, and unforutnately most models you can't replace them yourself.

Good luck!

Thanks Mitch and Cindy,

I do not have my PC unpacked yet, and that is the computer that is linked to my I Pod (not my little lapatop) so I will have to keep unpacking in silence until I unpack and hook up my PC. I will let you know if it works.
