As we are moving back to US, we need to get back into the American way of shopping. One decision we will need to make is Costco versus Sam's Club. I know many LCTers are frequenters of these discounters. I would love to hear the pros and cons on these two or should we just stay with Super Walmart or Super Target.
thanks,

Marc, We like the selection and quality of goods at Costco better than Sam's, but that's in our area. Each may let you take a walk through to see what they have. Jim

I agree with Jim. Walk into each and ask for a visitor pass so you can walk around and see for yourself. Both are very similar but each seem to have their positives over the other. Problem is that is something only you can determine by your likes and dislikes.

I'm a Costco fan myself, better merchandise in my opinion. In the past, I have found on some things prices are cheaper at Walmart than Sam's. I think the Sam's will be closer to you though, if that makes a difference.

I dropped my membership to Sam's but kept Costco. I love it, am there too often $$. I do wish some things came in smaller quantities due to lack of storage but all and all....very happy with Costco.
I love Super Target too but not crazy about our Walmart, it's kind of trashy.

The Wall Street Journal did a comparison of Sam's, Costco, BJ's, and Walmart this past Thursday.

If this link doesn't work (I am subscribed), let me know and I'll email you the article proper.
On prices alone, I'd go with Sam's. If you want to get some of the higher end / sexy merch, I'd go with Costco.

We have a Sam's card primarily because there's a Sams about a mile from our house and Costco is more than 10 miles away. We use the card mainly for the gas station (it saves us 4-5 cents a gallon) and a few bulk items we buy (bottled water, etc). The prices at Sam's are better than Costcos but I think Costco has higher end stuff.

Agree with Peggy about higher end stuff - we dropped Sam's card and just use Costco plus location more convenient for us.
