Also the ship HOLDS space for excursions and dining room reservations for those that do not book online. Not everyone is computer literate enough to do the online reservations. These are things that many do not know but those that travel a lot find out that in most cases you can get what you want once you board. Only very limited excursions that only take 15 - 20 people should cause you to miss out.

Thanks all, that does make me feel better. I've been reading on the "other" board about this as well, and getting nervous about the availability of our tours for next year. I will reserve judgement until the time comes to book. Then I guess we'll see! We had some issues last Jan with our S.A. cruise on Regent, so I was thinking this was going to make it worse. Hopefully not. Anyway, after this one we will be silver anyway. :D

And Marc, you found the reason for my 'handle', because another cruiser, many many years ago (1980's), gave us the title of 'Nanook of the North' and still addresses us that way! That's funny - guess it's because we're from the great white north in Canada. Very good.

Susan, I hope you didn't find my post too critical. I read the other board too and there are a few "chicken littles" over there that seem to cause a lot of consternation among new and yet to sail Regent cruisers.

One of the disadvantages of pre-booking is that you have to pay ( the expensive tours) using your credit card. If you book on board you can use in-cabin credits.

Thanks for the link, Dave. I just didn't see it but is it so obvious now that you showed the way.
See you on board.

Don't have a clue how you know my name, since it doesn't show up on my profile - and it doesn't matter to me, but I'm just very curious. And no, I didn't find it too critical Marc, except for the "calm down" bit. I wasn't really all that excited (at least I didn't intend that). Susan

David, I've heard of people who pre-book the paid excursions. When they get on board, they cancel them and rebook using SBCs. It seems to be quite common.

Yes Beth, that does work - as long as the excursions aren't in a 'wait-list' status. If you cancel on board and there's a wait-list, you go to the bottom of the list. But we were able to use our OBC on Regent after checking that the excursion was available for booking, and they were quite happy to cancel our original booking, crediting it back to our credit card, and using our OBC to re-book.

Thx for the further explanation, Susan. Hoping the excursion isn't wait-listed is an important factor.

Well, I was kind of fond of that 'deck of cards' before I found a pic to put up (Karen, thanks!). I do spend a fair amount of time haunting the casino!
