Thanks Karen and Arlene for getting me hooked on another source of entertainment. At least it keeps me from looking at travel sites and booking another trip. Do you all break it up to the most pieces?

Betty, I think for the daily challenge, they pick the number of pieces for the puzzle. But on the other puzzles, I try to stay around 100 pieces or else the get too small!

What is your nickname at that site, so we can look for you on the leader board!

Editing to add, I thought today's puzzle was the hardest one yet!

Betty, I do as Karen does when doing the puzzles for fun. I choose the ones between 80 an d 120 pieces. I can't see the ones with more pieces.

Don't have time right now to do today's, but I agree it does look hard. All those windows look similar.

Well I always want everyone I know to feel good about themselves, so tried the jigsaw for today. Guess who's coming last by a country mile? I'm hoping I'll improve - can't possibly get worse - or can I?

I didn't finish it and was already at 11 minutes. I am starting to get the hang of it but am amazed at how many side pieces I can't find immediately. Must be time for stronger glasses.

Karen, I was busy with my grandson yesterday, much more fun than the puzzle. We are expecting a little girl next month so I guess I'll be busy for a while with them and all the excitment, but will try to keep the puzzles going.

Betty, What is your name on that site so I know when I join you at the bottom.

Doris, congrats on your upcoming Granddaugher!! We're expecting #3 Grandchild any time now! (not sure if it's a boy or girl, we'll all be surprised. For now we just call it "Baby Ball")

Thanks Marcie,

Congratulation on the upcoming birth of #3. How lucky we all are.

It's so wonderful to welcome a new little one into the family. No name has been chosen yet so I call her little miss no name!

It's 'Seniors Week' here so I may have to give today's jigsaw a miss as I'm off to a Seniors Concert in the city - much more suited to my abilities! I promise to keep trying! Lee

Congrats to both Marcie and Doris.

I thought of one other thing I do. If I try a piece where I thought it should go and it doesn't fit, I just leave it aside and go onto another piece. I know in the past I'd frustrate myself trying to find where the piece goes.

Do you mean you hit the arrange button when you start, or do you mean you arrange them by color or some other method as you go?

I hit the arrange button to get started and then I pick out all the edges and then the obvious colors. I can't use the ghost image, it confuses me :)

I just redid the puzzle to see if I could find more hints to what I do. (fyi: This time I did it in 5:56. Seems whenever I do a puzzle more than once, I get worse. LOL. Plus I didn't have my coffee yet.)

It confused me the first time I used the ghost also. But it's good for just putting in major color shapes. After that, I tend to forget it's there. If that still doesn't work, try putting the thumbnail up so you can see where the major blocks of color go.

Also don't worry about picking out all the edges first. That's a time killer. Put together the color patterns first. For example, on today's puzzle, while I was placing the edges around, I also did the black spaces right down the middle of the barn since those were easy to see. I was also putting in the roof line because that too was black and once I added the black, it was easy to add the white of the rest of the roof.

Lastly, and this one will seem counter intuitive, but don't rush. If you don't rush, you'll relax more and it will be easier to see the pieces.

I see we have a new design to the jigsaw page and a new name. Hopefully it doesn't get much more popular or I will never make the daily scoreboard!

Oh Doris, you have no idea how comforting it is to know I'm not alone in 'slow jigsaw abilities'!!!

Karen - the new jigsaw page alone was a challenge to me - as for my finishing time, I won't even go there!

I found another thing that might help. Under options, try checking "smooth joined pieces." It makes the pieces that you've fit together seamless without the jigsaw cuts where they meet. It seems to be a bit less confusing for me that way.

Well girls, you have no need to worry about me keeping you off that leader board! Perhaps if I knew what time they actually changed the puzzle and I was the first to try it - I just might make it (temporarily at least)!!

Lee - It changes around midnight Central Time - One hour earlier than Michael in NYC.
I've noticed it twice. Finished one days & when I get off the next days is up.
One time I was 2nd for about 2 seconds !

How could anyone do this puzzle in 6 mins!!

Betty - Working out the time difference is similar to doing a jigsaw puzzle - no doubt I'll solve it in time!!

I emailed the sites owner, Derek and asked if he could expand the leader board for us slow pokes and he said he was already working on that.
I also asked him if he could include a comment section under each days puzzle and he said he would think about that as well.

I wrote him yesterday when I saw that someone was doing those puzzles in under 3 minutes. That would have meant he was placing 1 piece a second which I defy anyone to be able to do. He wrote back that he agreed with me.

Lee the important thing is that you're having fun. :)

I think I have figured out how these people are getting such low times. If you click on the puzzle instead of waiting for the pieces to come apart, after you have clicked on the number of pieces, you will hear a grinding noise and sometimes almost half the puzzle does not come apart so they are only doing half, the other half is already done. Try it and see if it's only on my computer or if this also happens to you. Your results will be interesting.

I found the same thing so it looks like the quick solvers are cheating. It makes you wonder if they are that way in all their dealings.

I've got it now. Much more fun to do the entire puzzle. :app:
