To all fellow Survivor followers: Survivor was doing audition tapes right here in Ann Arbor at our Art Fairs last Thursday and Friday afternoon. I just asked my daughter to snap my photo by the sign at the tent. If anyone from the auditions here gets on the show I'll have to root for them. Karen S. I spent over 30 minutes and could not figure out how to get the photo directly under my text. The link works fine but if you can work your magic and get it right I'd appreciate it.

Karen, if I had been insane enough to try out and by some miracle they picked me I would have been the first voted off. Unless I were able to buy myself an extra day by starting fire with my glasses :D
PS We had a tornado warning shortly after that photo and we took cover in the basement of one of the university buildings. Where would I go during a big storm on Survivor?

I forgot to thank Karen earlier for using her technology gift in editing my post - THANKS!
I knew the photo op would be lots of fun but there is no way I could last on Survivor. I'm dependent on too many prescription medications, and the orthopedic surgeon that I saw two weeks ago confirmed that the outer part of my right knee is now bone against bone. He was amazed that I managed to do as well as I did during all the climbing we did in Israel in May.

More importantly what did all the artists and craftspeople do when there was the tornado warning? Thankfully the worst I ever had was thunderstorms. (Not fun when you're standing in a tent with metal poles and water rushing in.)

Arlene, about 8 artists had significant damage to their work and or tents. There was only one injury from cut glass and they were treated and released from the emergency room. Just one poor artist lost enough that he packed up and went home. We spoke with our stained glass friends the next day and David reported that he was really nervous as he and Linda rushed to take down and protect their work. He kept trying to get her to go into the Student Union to seek shelter but she would not until their glass was secure. Then she finally went inside while he stayed holding down the tent. They did fine. Except for that 30 minute period we had wonderful weather. In general, the regulars weathered the storm OK while the first timers were really spooked. It pointed out the importance of knowing how every city's severe weather warnings work. Our sirens sounded long and loud but some thought it was a test. (Our tests are done on Tuesdays at 1:00 or 2:00 PM and are not that long.)
The majority of the artists that were interviewed in the closing hours of the fairs said that sales had been very good. The final survey results are not back yet.
