Did anyone else see the shoot-out in US Open first-round match between Agassi and Pavel last night? It was a monster dogfight, all right. Agassi's brand of tennis is marvelous, made all the better by seeing the tribute to Billie Jean King that preceded it.

Agassi managed to pull it out after three tough tie breaks. Kudos to Pavel for playing a marvelous match. I may need to scramble the schedule to get to the next match. Agassi's pulled Marcos Baghdatis, who looked AWESOME in the majors earlier this year, for the second-round match on Wednesday.

I saw only through the 3rd set. But, wow, did I enjoy watching that match. I can't believe I didn't stay up, though, with the 4th set being 6-2. But, how could I have known??

Yes, great tribute to Billie Jean. Ms. Ross was in fine form, too!

Received a phone call from a friend in Queensland who watched the Agassi/Baghdatis match - trust me to miss it. She said it was one of the best matches she's seen. To think this time last year I was in New York getting ready to hit the US Open - no doubt I'll be missed!

Lee - It was a marathon, all right. Hard to watch the fifth set with Baghdatis cramping up and Agassi having trouble walking. Neither one of them were going down without using their last ounce of energy. I'd have to say the first match against Pavel was better tennis than this one. Both matches have been thrilling spectator tennis!

Our guest is a tennis nut from Sydney. He'll represent Australia for you. Weather looks terrible for tomorrow; fingers crossed we will get to see some tennis.

When is his next match??

When were so "up" after the match, it was hours until we feel asleep. I thought Agassi's opponent was very gracious in his speech after his loss.

JAM - We were up for a while, too!

Theoretically - Agassi and Becker play Saturday, probably in the night session. If the weather forecast is right, then it's Sunday or Monday.

That was INCREDIBLE last night - downright riveting. Greg & I haven't watched tennis in years, I am ashamed to say, until last night. That brought back all kinds of memories of when I religiously followed Agassi during his teenage years & early 20s (we are the same age).

We'll be rooting him on this weekend!!!
