Hi all...you can't see me but I am doing the doc dance as we speak. We originally had a cat. g guar. on the Voyager, MOnte Carlo to Athens Oct 22, but have been upgraded to a category c. Room number is 786. My understanding is that this is the very back of the boat with our deck facing the back...any thoughts on this cabin...am hoping that this is really a good upgrade....clare

I join R. in wishing you a long, lovely doc dance. You've got a great itinerary and I hope you really enjoy the ship as well as the ports.

The "c" category suites are the same size as the "h" through "d" categories. The balcony is about twice as big. If you get 877/878 or the comparable end cabins on deck 10, the balcony is simply huge with a 270 degree view. The drawback of the Deck 10 corner "c" suites is they are directly above the La Verandah outside seating area. As that area gets washed down & set up, it may interfere with your early morning time in the suite. Deck 7 is a good location. There's a fair bit of discussion about the "c" category suites on the Voyager. You can do a search on this site regarding the degree to which folks have felt vibrations and/or had more creaking if they have suites that are back of the laundry room/rear elevator section of the ship.

We had the "c" suite in April 2004 and had one or two nights out of 14 that the vibration or creaking was bothersome. We also had a wonderful balcony and enjoyed it very much. It's a trade-off. I believe the ship has had a dry dock since then; have not sailed so do not personally know what, if any, difference is noted for vibration or creaking in these suites.

Some folks have no issues; some feel the vibrations but are only slightly concerned; and a smaller group have had serious difficulty with the vibrations. The vibration issue and potential solutions have been included in at least a few drydocks since the ship was launched. That said, there are times when you may well feel a vibration (it may be in the Horizon Lounge, it may be in La Verandah and it may be in the "C", "h", further back "g", "f", "e", "d", "b" or Seven Seas aft suites.

Hope that helps. Cheers, Anne

Congratulations!! i would jump all over that big balcony. We love our balcony time... question all, do upgrades like that typically happen when the ship is not full? or is it the opposite....

Clare, We loved cabin 974 last year. The large balcony is very spacious. We had cocktails most nights on the deck with my parents. Enjoy your cruise!
Cheers, Pam

We are upgraded to 878 in November. Looking forward to the cruise even more with a balcony we can stretch out on.
Pam, I see you are an "Honorary" Geordy. Hope you are enjoying your stay in the NE which we left 45 years ago to the sunny skies of S. California.

David, Yes, I guess honorary Geordy could be right. However, I can barely understand the Geordy's when they speak..LOL! It is a great opportunity for us to live overseas, and we are making the most of it. Cheers, Pam
PS We are spending plenty of time trying out the pubs!

Pam:

Just say "Why I man, ah divn't undestand whaat yor sayyyin'! Hope you are enjoying the Newcastle "Brooon" Ale.
Newcastle is a really beautiful city now, not the grimey place it was till about the late 90's.

I am sure you like the wonderful countryside of the North, being so close to the lakes is a wondeful bonus to make up for the weather.
Best wishes,
David. (Ex Geordy.)

Clare, I guess if you don't like it, there must be something below that is "under" your guarantee. Give it a try if you don't like it. Those aft cabins have the best views, because you can see left and right!

Yes, Clare, ring up Joanna and meet her! We are with her on her first leg (having cruised with her before), but you guys haven't got together a group for the next leg of her cruise. I can vouch for her, having been on 2 or 3 cruises, plus a pre-cruise with her on our next one. Tony is a not miss person to meet, and if you have a husband, he will definitely feel the same. They are the best!

Clare, Congrats on your upgrade. Hope it is a plus for you. That huge balcony does sound wonderful. Dancing :ch: :ch: :chicken:

Cindy, We were upgraded to a Penthouse B (as were our nieces) on our July 4th Baltic cruise this summer. To answer your question, there were 648 passengers on the Voyager that cruise. It can hold 700 pax.

Joanna and Tony are wonderful wonderful cruise companions. Joanna can give you the expert's tour of the pool deck chairs and Tony can address any of your ironing concerns. I imagine they would gladly introduce you to the wonders of sambuca if you're so inclined.

Cheers, Anne

There really is no downside to the upgrade. If you are unhappy with the cabin, just speak to the hotel manager or front desk. They can usually downgrade you to another room or upgrade you to another suite at 50% off from the category you are in (c). You pay half the difference of your new cabin (not for the cabin you paid for) and the new cabin. This would be a great opportunity for you if you wanted to upgrade to a larger suite.

Clare: You're not going to wear that hula skirt are you on your balcony? If so, Tony may never leave -
