When I use my browser's back button to return to a topics list from a message, it takes me back to the board as it was a couple of days ago. I have to hit refresh to get it into the current list of messages. It happened a couple of days ago, and I thought it odd at the time but thought maybe it was something I did. But, no, it's in the board. No big deal--I should use the breadcrumb to go back anyway--but it is strange.

Crystal, make sure your browser is set to show the newest version of the page you are viewing.
To do so, (just in case you aren't sure how) Click tools at the top of the page (I hope you are using Microsoft internet browser!) Scroll down to internet options and choose the general tab. In the temporary internet files area, click on "settings". Make sure under "Check for newer version of stored pages" that "automatically" is checked.

Karen,
I've often had the same problem as Crystal. I went in just now as you suggested and my settings were already on "automatically". So why then, am I having this problem too? Any ideas?

Hmmm, I am not really sure. Instead of the "automatically" setting, you can set your browser to check for the newest version of the page "with every visit to the page" by clicking that option instead of "automatically" but if you have an older pc, it might slow down your browsing speed.
Also, do you have LCT set to "show all topics" ? This option is located at the top of any forum right under the button that you click to post a new message.

This has always happened to me. I went through your drill Karen and have the right things selected. Oh well, at least I'm used to it...

Let's try one more thing Try deleting your temporary internet files. Click tools on the top of the page, scroll down to internet options and on the general tab, click "delete files" While you are there, it won't hurt to clear your history, either. That is the next option below the delete your files option.

I just did some research at Microsoft and came up with their page of scary advice that you can read here. If it were me and I was not comfortable tinkering with my registry as they suggest (I DO get nervous when I have to edit it!!) , I would just use the refresh button :)

Karen,
You are right - all that advice is scary. I think I will just stick with my refresh button. It doesn't happen often enough to bother me. Thanks for all your help, though!! As always, I learned new things (do you give private lessons? :D )

Yeah, really. Just refreshing or using the breadcrumb is fine with me. Thanks, Karen.
