Jim B sent this to me and I thought it was pretty cool... What did your hometown area look like according to Penny Postcards? Check out your old stomping grounds during those times. That's so neat! My hometown is not there (it was probably population 100 back in penny postcard times) - but the town where Greg went to high school - Winter, Wisconsin (Sawyer County) - is there. He grew up in Ojibwa and had to attend school in Winter. Two hour bus ride to and from, each day!
Where did you grow up, Arlene? And Marc?

Marc grew up in LA, I am sure it has changed a bit! I was a military brat so I grew up everywhere, but was born in Monte Vista, a tiny farming town in Colorado and there were several postcards from there with buildings I recognized.
Kristin, we should compare notes on how small our hometowns were back then. Mine only had 1 stop sigh and it was yellow how about yours?

Too funny! Well, I think my hometown of Luck got its first stoplight in about 1995, and it's the only one. Population is now about 1200 - wow! Best known for the beef commercial - "When you're out of beef, you're out of Luck!"
Greg's little speck on the map "Ojibwa" is still unincorporated...his parents still live there and I'm sure they always will. Winter is around 300 very hearty and happy folks. My goodness, how do they do it?!

Both of my little hometowns are there! Loved it. The train station (now gone) was right across the street where I grew up, in my grandparents home on Main Street! lol, Kristen, we had one stop light as I remember! We moved 8 miles east in the summer to the shore, and loving those, too!

The train station is what is pictured for my home town. And it's still there. Train service has started once again. I loved looking at so many of the photos. Thanks for posting.
