I finally took the plunge today!
After flying what felt like all night, using the most interesting temporary jetway ever in San Jose (did I mention it shook and rattled?) and growling at Hertz's idea of check in efficiency (swipe the bar code on your driver's license. OH ... wait a minute, that doesn't work. Why don't YOU type in every piece of information on your license instead of us?), it was time for lunch. With my hands on the wheel of the Hyundai, I searched high and low until I spied
IN N' OUT
ah ... time to find out what all the buzz is about. Drive through wait time was pretty long .. but then a beautiful paper wrapped hamburger appeared from the window..
Mmmm ... The burger truly is great. French fries suffer from the same problem as McDonald's. Once we drove the saturated fats out of the system, they don't taste like much of anything anymore. Bring back the beef tallow and the great flavor ... one day a week for those of us who crave that guilty pleasure.
Does In N' Out have onion rings? They'd probably taste better.
How are the shakes?
Cheers, Anne

Anne, A double double with cheese, their fries are fresh made and cut to order - get them crisp with a shake. I am sure they have Onion rings, but, the shake is enough splurge. They are great. But, I am no carbing it so it's "animal style" without the fries, shake and bread...(sigh),,,

Number 9 (Mw) (a/k/a Grant)
Number 7 (Mw) (a/k/a Gary) has had his time management system tested. Our new parakeet, Ralphie, believes in resetting watches on a daily basis. Time zone is entirely random. Number 7 (Mw) is NOT pleased. What good is life if you don't always know EXACTLY what time it is in New Jersey?
I am wasting time tonight waiting for the world series & being bored watching Penn State & Ohio State. I did try the animal approach to pulled pork sandwich at the hotel (meat, salad, and forget the rest of the platter). Pretty good.
How about those Cal Bears? Sad as it is for the Bruins, two touchdowns in 19 seconds is quite an accomplishment.

Animal style has the buns, loads of sauce and onions.
If you don't want a bun, ask for Protein Style. The only way to eat an In n Out burger IMHO.

We have In and Out Burger here in Vegas too. Love it! Everything is so fresh and it is such a CLEAN place. They pay their help $12 or $13/hr. Funny thing is on our 37th anniversary we were still in Scottsdale just after John's surgery and I went to the drive through and brought him our anniversary dinner. Judy
