I just got off the phone with my brother. He was born in Steeler country, but has lived in Texas most of his life.

He is a Steeler fan at heart...

I promised him years ago that, if the Steelers made a Superbowl in Dallas, and IF I got picked in the lottery, I would take him.

Well, I can say that it is one of the most exciting moments of my life to make my brother so happy!

GO STEELERS!

How great you got SuperBowl tickets. I hope it is a Steelers/Packers game! May the best team win! :app:

Yay Steelers! How fun is that, Sheri!

Yay for you (even though I'm a Packer person). I hear it's going to get really cold there though, so bundle up (I should talk--we've got a blizard here)

When are you leaving for Dallas Sheri?
I am hoping this terrible storm does not
cause you problems.

Sheri KEEP us in touch!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Sheri. Are you gone yet?

I hope Sheri isn't suffering too much from travel delays. We woke up to 6 inches of snow here on top of the ice from earlier this week!

I have been hearing of lots of flights cancelled
and long delays going into Dallas.
Only good news was flights from Pittsburg, Milwaukee, Green Bay, would have priorty.

As it should be!

Read on Facebook that Sheri sold her tickets about a week ago due to all the additional costs associated with the trip.

Yeah, I sold them. :( It was the additional costs, but also my mother and her health. Actually, it was mostly the latter. She had a bit of a breakdown when she found out I was leaving town. I just couldn't do it to her. She depends on me too much right now.

It is a good thing though, 'cause I checked on the status of the flight that I was to be on this morning, and it was canceled...we have freezing rain here this morning.

Quite the roller coaster of emotions right now.

Well now you can cozy in and watch the game on TV and not be stressed by the weather or leaving your Mom - it was fun sharing your excitement with the tickets!! :app: :app:

It sure was exciting while it lasted!

I am having a small party at my house. It should be fun....AND warm! :D

Sheri,
I completely understand why you sold your tickets, but having been to a superbowl, I have to admit, it was an experience that I will never forget.
However, your time will come again. The Steelers are always going, and your name will be picked again. At least the weather there isn't any better there than it is here!!!

New development...they are now reporting that several thousand fans are being turned away. They didn't finish construction of the auxiliary seats!!! Guess where my seats were???

SO, these people got all the way down there, and now will NOT get to see the game from inside the stadium!

WOW!!!!!!

editing to say....now they are saying that the seats are done, but the fire marshall is deeming them unsafe. OH, I feel awful for all of those people...and for the people I sold my tix to!!!

Unbelievable!!!! I didn't catch if that was commented on during the broadcast, all I heard was there were thousands of fans outside because Mr. Jones wanted to set a record of attendance at a Super Bowl.
What a disaster!
Lynn

It was reported in the Fort Worth Star Telegram today that the reason the seats weren't ready is that the workers from the New York company contracted by the NFL to install them walked off the job on Sunday morning. The Cowboy's management quickly called in the DFW company they use to try to finish the job before the kickoff, but even with that, about 1200 seats never got finished. About 800 people were seated in other seats around the stadium (they even moved some of the media out to accomodate the ticket holders), but 400 were left without seats and had to watch the game on TV from one of the party areas. So the blame lies with the NFL and the company they hired to do the job. The NFL has offered compensation, but I doubt that will make anyone happy.

Well, yes, it was a disaster, but I have been in touch with the couple that I sold the tix to. They are a wonderful couple! I am happy to say, that it appears that they might end up ahead of the game. They are getting 3x the face value, and now are being offered an all expenses paid trip to the Super Bowl of their choice...AND there is a federal lawsuit brewing...breach of contract.

I actually feel worse for the Packers fans who didn't get in. They missed their team winning!

Sometimes things happen for a reason....

sounds like you made right decsion to sell!!!!
