Br-r-r-r-r...woke up this morning to snow! and 15* temps. Winds 35mph and gusting to 75! Schools closed. No fishing today!
The Chesapeake Bay bridge is closed to trucks and there is ice by the waters edge at my home.
Olivia, Are you freezing?

Well, up here in the frozen north, it's -23 celsius, -33 with windchill. That's -9 fahrenheit, or -27 with the windchill. The two scales converge, by the way, at -40, which is why the numbers look wonky.

Luckily, it will be up above freezing tomorrow, or so the weatherman promises.

These temperatures are unusually cold for Toronto, by the way, especially in December.

At least the south is still warmer than the north. It was 4 degrees when we left our home yesterday morning. The wind made it seem even colder. I kept asking my husband if all the windows were up in the car because it sounded like it does when one is a tiny bit down. We never got to double digits despite the sunny afternoon. By 8pm it was down to 3 degrees and this morning at 8am it is only 2! At least it is suppossed to go all the way up to 19 today.

It's now 49 degrees here in Orange County, CA. The high will reach into the low 70's today. We're chilling down - this weekend's highs reached 85 degrees!

It is 6 degrees this morning [Linked Image]
Yesterday, we had an 80 car pileup about 5 miles from our house, during a white out. There were cars jammed under semis and cars were smashed flat but thankfully no one was killed. The reports on TV say the people in the cars where running from their vehicles before other cars and trucks slammed into them.
Mark and I got caught in the storm but we were not on the interstate where the accident happened and it was a true white-out, we could barely see the end of our car.

This morning, it is rather beautiful outside but I guess more snow is on the way. I don't have to dream of a white Christmas this year!

Karen, I saw that huge wreck on the news and worried about you!

It's 17 here this morning; every time the heat comes on, I get a stuffed-up nose. Nothing helps, not even humidifiers, but I have little pills that do help. It's supposed to be close to 60 tomorrow, then drop again by next weekend. No wonder our sinuses stay in a state of mass confusion all the time!

Pam, my daughter just relocated to Memphis from Warsaw, Indiana. She thought she was returning to the South and warmer weather. Maybe not!

Doesn't it just, Sheri. Pip is the only thing that's going to get me through this winter. Each one gets harder and harder. Looking forward to retirement, so we can spend the worst of the winter elsewhere on the planet, somewhere warmer like Mexico!

It's 38 degrees and foggy here.

I'm glad I got all my bulbs planted yesterday. And I thought it was cold then, in the 60's!

And it's a top down day in Tucson. Of coarse in the summer the uncomfortable factor is reversed.

It is chilly here in south Florida. I'm glad I saved some of my "Maryland" clothes. Today I need them. By the middle of the week it is supposed to be 78-80 again. Soon it will be the time of year when I needle my northern friends -- who needled us during hurricane season when more than 2,000 trees around our golf course came down.

Boy, I feel guilty -- yesterday I was Christmas shopping in shorts and a tank top. We've been socked with a heat wave, and I'm a little worried about our upcoming ski trip to Mammoth Mountain. I sure hope all the snow isn't melted!

I think you will be okay, LeeAnne...this mornings snow report....

At 8:30 a.m. the temperature at Main Lodge is 25 degrees with clear skies and moderate winds, and 31 degrees on top of the mountain.

We have 4-6 feet of firm and machine-groomed snow here at Mammoth, with all three base lodges open for the season, and 93 groomed runs ready for skiing and riding today. We are currently operating 24 lifts.

It was about 20 degrees here when I woke up this morning. The ladybugs have actually just left. No snow yet this winter, but we have a small amount of ice on our roads. The last couple of years haven't been all that bad in MN. We leave Wednesday for Tulsa where we were hoping for some balmy 50 degree weather, but now are hearing that they got our cold front, so maybe I won't be packing as lightly as I thought I would be.

Thanks, Robert! I haven't gone to their website to check out the snow report in a while, so I didn't know if this heatwave was affecting them up there. Now I can't wait!

Pam try an antihistimine. claritin is over the counter and doesn't cause drowsiness. Why do i say an antihistimine? when the air dries out, the dust mites in the house increase, and of course the best way for the house to get too dry is with heat.

It's going to be warmer tomorrow so I'm hauling a bunch of the Christmas gifts to Sonja. That way, we'll have fewer to unload when we get there on Saturday. I can't take some of them because their shape is a dead giveaway.

Arlene, I have a weird system and only certain antihistamines work for me. The one I take is a prescription and as long as I remember to take it, it is a wonder drug. Thanks!

Button up your overcoats, you easty coasty types!!

Sweater weather here in the lovely Pacific Northwest. No white Christmas for us but I'll trade that for the sheer terror of white-out conditions.

OK, I was feeling totally miserable about our Philly weather (wind chills below zero this morning on the way to work. And, I have to walk 7 blocks from the train station to my office.) Then I read Wendy's post.

Yikes!! I can't even begin to imagine those temperatures.

I'm starting to think that these colder areas should be abandoned in the winter and we should all migrate south with the geese. :)

All kidding aside, the older I get the more this seems to bother me. I never remember winter getting to me the way it does now. Sometimes I feel like I'll never be warm again.

Hang in there everyone!

Kathy

Arlene, John lies!!! It is freezing here, I think 40ish or high 30's tonight. That is downright frigid for SFLA!! We do occasionally get a few nights like that, but not until Jan-Feb. I actually don't mind it, it's not too often that we get such low humidity days. Great hair days!!

If you lived there now, we'd practically be neighbors! We actually live in Tustin, right on the border of Irvine (off of Walnut and Tustin Ranch Road).

I have 3 extra rooms that had sleep 6, 2 extra baths, plus lots of floor space, as she types wearing shorts, barefoot and a RSSC Diamond T-shirt. The pool would be too cold to use but with Clay & I as company who needs to swim?????? And the liquor cabinet is full.

We've got highs in the low 80s and lows in the low 70s. We actually had winds up to 25 mph a few weeks ago, complete with a "wind chill". Needless to say, us wimpy Hawaiians (okay, that would be just me) were cold.
