It looks like they have changed the theme of FUN as I don't remember it being a rock and roll cruise? View the article at the website here And a link to the website of the rock and rolling wine making 60's rock band is here Wine, sun & rock n' roll Sep 24, 03:46 PM Haven't you ever wanted to drink a winemaker's private stash? Now you can, by joining the Private Reserve 2009 Wine, Sun & Rock Caribbean cruise on Regent Seven Seas Cruises. This 12-day cruise will depart from Ft. Lauderdale on Regent's 490-passenger cruise ship Navigator and will explore some of the lesser-known islands of the Caribbean: Aruba, Curacao, St. Lucia, Dominica, St. Croix, Turks and Caicos and Puerto Rico. Besides the gourmet meals, nightlife and spa-living normally found on a Regent cruise, guests will enjoy drinking the stash from each of the winemaker's personal cellars, an opportunity to sample a variety of age-worthy wines from large format bottles, two winemaker dinners, casual wine-chats, and the 60s rock and roll band Private Reserve. Private Reserve is composed of three of Napa and Sonomas top-winemakers: Ed Sbragia, Emeritus winemaker for Beringer Winery, who also has his own label Sbragia Family Vineyards in Geyserville; Mike Martini, Master Winemaker of Louis M. Martini in St. Helena and for his own label M Squared; and George Bursick, winemaker with J Wines in Healdsburg. During the cruise, guests will: * Meet and taste with George Bursick, Bob Janis, Mike Martini and Ed Sbragia, and sample wines from their wineries including J, Villa Toscano, Brutacao, Louis Martini, M Squared, Beringer Vineyards, Sbragia Family Winery and more. * Explore wines from many famous Northern California appellations: Napa Valley, Howell Mountain, Dry Creek and Russian River Valleys, Sonoma County, and more. * Sample a broad range of varietals ranging from classic Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Zinfandel to exotic Cal/Italia Tuscan red blends, from classic Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc to lively Pinot Grigio. * Experience the power of aging wines gracefully as you taste current vintages and compare them with beautifully cellared library wines of famous vintages. * Learn about the power of magnums and large format bottles and their aging secrets. Prices for the Private Reserve 2009 Wine, Sun & Rock Caribbean cruise begin at $4,695 per person for a deluxe balcony-suite cabin, plus airfare, government taxes and port fees. Customers who book by October 31 will earn a $250 onboard cabin credit. Visit www.foodandwinetrails.com for more information and to book!

Karen,
Food and Wine Trails puts together Food and Wine themed travel. Just like Ngaire puts a group together, this does a group cruise. Just because you are on FUN doesn't mean you will get to participate in the Wine, Fun Sun and Rock and Roll - it's a partial charter just like Tauck uses the Regent ships and have their own events.

So where is the rock and roll band going to perform? Not that I care because I am (gasp) not a fan of 60's rock and roll.

Here is the link to their private event schedule: http://foodandwinetrails.com/?id=123&bid=6 There have been groups like this on several cruises that LCT'ers have been on. Like, PIP had a group where the venues were closed to everyone. There was a cooking show host on my Panama Canal Cruise - she had her own classes and it wasn't open. My friends just did Regent on the Baltics via Tauck Tours and they closed off Signatures, La Veranda and Latitudes for private dinners. We were on our Bermuda cruise and D Magazine had about 100 people on the Navigator with private events.

There's enough of us, I guess we can throw our own parties! Might be in the engine room as that will be the last place another group isn't commandeering but we will still have fun! They just better not be in the connoisseur club, lol.

We had a large jazz group (Jazz Dagen) on our cruise from Seward to Osaka last fall. They opened all the fabulous jazz concerts (at noon, late afternoon and in the evening) to all the passengers on the ship because they needed to hold them in the larger venues (Observation Lounge, Horizon Lounge). Regent would have had a lot of unhappy customers if those places had been closed off to anyone but the group members. Hopefully the Rock and Roll and wine tastings will be the same for you guys.

Right On !! We'll be fine. We too have been on some of these "specialized cruises" and had no problems.
They'll recognize FUN when they see it ! Wine, FUN and rock n' roll are where it's at......they're more apt to want to crash our parties

I notice that they have a members only dinner on March 18. With only two restaurants on the Navigator, how will that impact we non members dinner plans that night.

I think we just need to have our Travel Agent get from Regent confirmation in writing that we will have access to Compass Rose for all meals. The second week on PiP had a "situation" where guests not with a large groupwere not allowed into the main dining room; luckily LCTers cannot be confused with lemmings and fought back.

Marc, good idea...on our upcoming crossing there will be group of Artful travelers (Spotlight on PBS) and on RSSC website it mentions events (dinners, cocktail receptions, etc) that will be exclusive to this group also they also mention some activities/panel discussions will be open to entire ship...will check with our TA now so 28 days out we will know if any restaurant venues will be Artful Grp only Having never been on the Voyager, bet this group exceeds 100 and they would surely close a specialty restaurant if they had it booked..r/wes

If the group is 100 but not much more, on Voyager, I can't imagine them closing Compass Rose for them, because I doubt there's enough dining capacity for the rest of the pax in the other venues. Perhaps it would make sense to put them in La Veranda for special dinners, let's hope for your sakes.
On Pip, the first night of the second cruise (b2b), the very large group (more than half of the 320 pax), took over L'Etoile. There was nowhere else for them to have a "group dinner", and there was enough capacity in La Veranda for the other passengers, coming and going, albeit feeding us a reprehensible buffet. There was indeed some "fighting back", but it didn't get us into the main dining room. It was only the first night, and most of their other special events didn't impact the other pax, at least not much. Tendering was somewhat disrupted. Entertainment was impacted, since none of these people came to the shows--too bad because they were excellent that trip.

I have spoken with Regent and the HMS/Food and Wine Trails group only has 10 cabins held. There are no other groups on except LCT and we are much larger than 10 cabins. So she was saying there shouldn’t be a problem with the dining rooms and lounges since they are not being reserved by a group. This cruise is a spotlight on Wine and Music for all guests to enjoy, although I don't have specifics as yet.
