If any of you have stayed here please give us your thoughts on this hotel. I used points to book a one night stay after we disembark the Mariner next May from our Panama Canal cruise.

It looks like it is very close to the cruise ship terminal, as well as in a nice area of shops/restaurants, if I am reading things correctly.

Trip Advisor has pretty decent reviews posted from past guests.

Hi Sue and Tom, We are planning on staying for about 3 days at the Fairmont,along with our cruising buddies after the same cruise as you. I have never been there so it should be interesting. Have never stayed at a Hyatt I didn't like.

We've been to San Francisco a few times, but not together. There is a lot to see and do there - very beautiful city!!! I was really happy when I read the Mariner would dock there on our cruise.

This is one Hyatt that I won't stay in (and I'm a Hyatt Diamond) since the last time I stayed there it took them 2 hours to get my car from valet parking.

The property itself is OK - similar in feel to the Downtown Atlanta property. Location is not bad since its close to the Ferry Building and at the end of the Embacadero Center. For Hyatt in San Francisco, I prefer the Grand Hyatt on Union Square (and their rates are actually a bit lower than the Hyatt Regency normally). I really miss the Park Hyatt (now a Le Meridien).

The first time we ever went to San Francisco (over 20 years ago), we stayed there and I had naively requested a king bed with a water view. When we got there, they had upgraded us to the Executive Floor and I was ruined for life. We never stayed there again, because we wouldn't pay the price for that floor but I didn't want another floor.

Since we won't have a car the valet ordeal won't be a problem.

We have a room booked on the Regency Club level - so it should be a nice room for just the one night.

Sue, there is a trolley that runs right from the Embarcadero area down to Fisherman's Wharf so you can get around easily without a lot of walking. If you are there on the weekend, the Saturday Farmer's Market at the Ferry Building is wonderful!

I hope to have enough room left in my carry-on for some sour dough bread and a few boxes of chocolates! ;)

It is a good location for walking and getting around on public transportation.The Grand Hyatt is closer to good clothes shopping. I have an office a block from the Hyatt Regency and I go down there a lot

If Marty can walk at that time we would love to meet you for dinner or whatever.I think that he should certainly be recovered from this injury but who knows when the next one will happen

The Farmer's Market also runs on Tuesday...I just went there at lunch!

I think it is a fairly pedestrian hotel, but certainly within walking distance of the Ferry Building, Jackson Square, the rest of the Embarcadero, etc.
