Hi everyone, Happy Holidays. I am wondering who has cruised Tahiti in May & what the weather was like. I have read that about five inches fall in the month. Does it always just rain for a little bit then stop? (thats what it did to us in Sept.) Thanks, Roxanne

Yes, that is the experience that I had...it rained for a bit and stopped. The up side is that the rainbows are absolutely spectacular!!!!

Our first PG trip was late May. We had one spectacular storm with downpour which had everyone evacuating Motu Mahana in mid-afternoon, and the ship pulling out early the "run" to Bora Bora to find a protected harbour. The ship was pretty rocky that night, but the rain stopped in the evening, and everything was fine the rest of the trip.

We had two weeks at the end of March. Every day was clear except one. The final day it began to rain about noon and it was torrential for the rest of the day as we pulled into Tahiti.

ACtually I believe the rainy season is around November through March. Lots of experts say January through March but it can really rain in November and December too. Can change according to what book or expert you read.

I have been in May about three times. I have never had a drop of rain on these trips. This is my favored time to go because the kids are still in school. After that there are more kids.

The rainiest trip I had was in July which is supposed to be the "no rain" season. Went in December once over New Years - the heart of the rainy season. Totally dry the whole week. Of course it was MUCH hotter then and humid that is the trip I burned my feet so badly.

So you never know.

I went in mid May last year and it rained just a little bit on most of the days. It was generally a light morning sprinkle and blew across the islands in a matter of an hour or so. It was nothing that inhibited us from enjoying an of the trip.
