Suzie, what a fab post...was going to send Diane (coffecup on polar bears) a post with the score, but in consideration of her outstanding polar bear posts will let her get home to WI and read the headlines herself.

I know the "no comment" was expected but he did give his heart & soul to GB for 16 yrs. and took them to (not sure) 5 super bowls? Two sides to every story and the boo's he got were nasty rude
:(

I could write a book about this. This really goes back so many years with his talk of retirement - 4+ seasons, long before the media got ahold of it. The average American, the average football fan, has not paid attention to every detail that happened. We gave him sooooo many chances to come back to us.

Sorry, but unless you've followed every single development (if you are a true Packer fan you would have ;) ), you would understand how we who have lived and died for the Packers all our lives feel (just to give one tiny example, we really appreciated his press conference when asked why he joined the Vikings, which I quote: "True Packer fans would understand".) Umm...don't you mean "True Brett Favre fans would understand"? That's just one little quote in a span of many, many that we have heard come out of his mouth. Here is this football GOD in our eyes, saying this statement which is so clearly all about himself. Unthinkable to us, but obviously he's not the human being we thought he was. I can't remember being more let down by anyone in my life.

We have just been shaking our heads. You think you know someone and you believe in his character but all we could say is...Wow.

That all said, I maintain that he is THE best quarterback to ever play the game. And the most fun to watch. It's just such a shame that he couldn't go out like those class acts such as Elway and Marino.

Kristin, understand...but having grown up in the Bay Area (weened on the 49rs since age 8) and firmly believe that Montana was the best NFL quarterback ever; however, I have no ill feelings that Montana left the SF 49rs for KC Chiefs. My take (and do understand I am not aware of all the GB Favre info) both Montana and Farve simply love to compete in the NFL, more than Montana loved SF or Farve loved GB.

I was simply applauding "The Man", not denigrating Green Bay. Heck, I groan every week for my fav team slip sliding away :(

Oh I know, Suzie - and I apologize, my post was certainly not directed to you peronally. I just wanted to provide a different perspective. It has just been such an emotional few years for us, and last week in particular - that awful game. Even if the Packers would have won, it was still awful. To witness Brett walking through the tunnel into Lambeau in PURPLE - :mecry:
