Posted this on CC believe these could be helpful for anyone going on the PG..if anyone has other suggestions pls add to it, thx. a. Jerry the waiter in L'Etoile for service above & beyond. b. A sunset in Bora Bora (when anchored) on the top deck or balcony if you have one with your favorite libation and significant other. c. If you're a diver, than many dives with the Dominque and the PG staff. d. Parasailing in Moorea or if not active, shopping for peals at the Black Pearl Gem Co; BPC will give you complimentary drinks (hinanao's for your spouse & free internet use) e. The Asian international (think Thursday) buffet in La Veranda f. O Tahiti E last night on board. g. If you're a dancer, bring your own CD's then invite Les Gaugines to La Paleete and dance the night away with them (My bride did this for eight nights straight). h. If L'Etoille and your table is not ready have the Maitre"d send you to La paleete for complimentary drinks until your perfect table is ready. i. Be the first off the tender on Monday to enjoy that fabulous day at the Motu Mahana--find a chair by the waters edge 1/2 block from the dock (less no no's there) f. A cheap (wall mart) has them air mattress to float on at the Motu g. Water shoes when you swim (try www.cudas.com) h. Have a blast

Wes,
Thanks for the tips! Can't wait until my Oct. 15th sailing on the PG! My air mattress and water shoes are already packed! Quick question, Me and my DH are bringing our snorkles and masks. Do you feel it's necessary for us to also bring our fins? We also have a precruise at BB Pearl. If we don't have to bring them with us, it would be a lot easier!

I suspect everybody who has been on the PG has their own favorites. My list shares many points with yours.
All the staff on the PG are exceptional, and I would hate to single out just Jerry. I would certainly add Bernard on the pool deck, Laina at the excursion desk, and ... But, as I said, all the staff really are special.
A couple of small matters regarding the Motu. There is lots of room so don't feel you really have to be first off the first tender. On this cruise there is never any need to rush. Ever! And if it is really hot, turn right instead of left to the beach with a view of Tahaa. There is almost always a lovely breeze on that beach. However, unless the heat is really up I agree about half-way down on the beach to the left. That location is also in close proximity to the floating bar.
And don't forget to have the risotto. I like to get a half-order as an appetizer, and then a full order with the main course.
We've spent four weeks on the PG, and putting together this reply to your post strengthens my desire to go again.

The PG supplies masks, snorkels and fins. This is complimentary. Wendy has a special mask because she wears glasses, so she brought it. I used the stuff they gave me. Lots less stuff to pack and carry.

Thank you for posting this. We are going on the PG in Dec through New Years - 10 days. (yeah, I know it will be hot/humid/rainy. ) Nonetheless, we are very excited!
I am looking to purchase our "summer" items in Aug so this list really helps. Any other pointers would be greatly appreciated. Miriam

Yeah, Wendy, I was looking and going, ummm, new poster, but, he looks awfully familiar. Had to click on the profile to determine that, in fact, we'd had a few meals and glasses of wine with that character not all that long ago and we're planning to have a few more next June!

Well, David's actually posted a couple of times before, but mostly he lurks. He signed up just after we got home from Pip.

Yes Anne, one of the great things about travelling so far west, is that even I get to enjoy the sunrises, although by the end of the second week, I missed one or two.

Col Wes - are you visiting Ft. Monmouth in New Jersey? If so, you're literally in our back yard. Let me know if you've got time to say hello. Cheers, Anne

Quick question, do people really not dress up at all on the PG? That is just fine for us (alot less shoes to drag), but my husband wonders if he should take a jacket. Thanks everyone. Happy Friday.

Cindy - very few of the men wore jackets when we were on in May. Ladies tended towards nice sundresses for dinner with a shawl as it can get cool after sundown or smart casual pants outfits.
I took my usual shoe selection - black flats, flip flops and tennis shoes - with the addition of reef shoes. Others brought (and used) more shoes.

I think the only reason to take a sport coat is if he thinks he would ever get cold in the air conditioning. I took one, but not sure if I ever wore it--except possibly in Apicius, though that venue seems to have changed somewhat. I did wear a sport coat on the country club casual Alaskan cruise on the Mariner when we ate at Signatures, but it wasn't necessary. We're planning a return trip to FP on the PG in February. ---------

Cindy, My husband took a sport coat and never wore it. While there were a few men that did, most just wore golf shirt and docker type slacks.

What a great perk....... so many less suitcases! i'm guessing in 22 days (3 in Sydney) we will be sending out or doing alot of laundry. Are the laundry facilities on the PG good??? Sorry for all the questions, i'm waiting for my PG catalog. Radisson hasn't sent one, (asked 60 days ago) so i've asked Julie at B&K for one. that will answer alot of this stuff.
