All of you are such experts :app: I figure you must have a link to a really good packing list for the PG. We will be on the ship for 10 nights in June. Hope it will be less hot than it has been in Pasadena last week (99-100 degrees and humid!. :o Just sundresses for nighttime? Heels or flat sandals at night?
Oh, I bought cheap air mattresses at that fine French store, Target, for $2.99 each. Do we really have to bring a pump? Sounds heavy!

Elena, I'm bringing my 2 teens. They will be my pumps. :) I bet you can bribe them to blow up yours. :D LOL. Seriously, those rafts are pretty small but I know I have a really lightweight balloon pump here somewhere, plastic for blowing up balloons you just pump it by hand, and you can find them in Michael's or similar party store.

Go back to Target and buy an clear plastic shoe pocket over the door thing. It will hang inside the cabinet that is the closet and come in handy. You can use it for toiletries in the bathroom too.

Walmart has the shoe bags too - perfect for toiletries. I use one every cruise and then leave for cabin stewardess.

Elena, you might want to pack a shawl for those sundresses. Dining rooms tend to get cold with air-conditioning!

WE are escaping for our second PG cruise and I plan to bring extra bathing suits. I like two piece suits where you can have extra bottoms so you don't ever have to sit in a wet suit. I also buy bathing suits that look like the fabric will dry quickly. Shorts whatever for cover up good also. Just buy a pareo(sp) in Papeete and you will be perfect!

ChatKat,
I had to do the food for a funeral at our church on Saturday--the poor guests were just wilting--we had to have the reception on the outside patio--we went through a lot of ice, iced tea, and lemonade. It's better now--I'm figuring it will be humid in FP but surely not hotter than it was around here last weekend.

Elena,

We went to FP this time last year. (I was just thinking when I woke up this morning that same day last year we left for LAX.) It was cooler and less humid in FP than the record breaking heat MI was experiencing at the time.

It will be humid, but probably not as bad, and the air is alot cleaner! Last year, unlike Kathy Z, we made it back to the northeast just in time for a really wretched heat-wave, it was way worse than Tahiti!

Wendy,
Maybe I am mean-spirited, but I figure we're going to have a certain number of heatwaves per season here in So.Cal., so I always sort of hope they will happen while we're on vacation! Not nice to the people at home, but it would be great for us. Guess the Lord has a great sense of humor, because it has almost always been great weather while we are away!

I just returned from the PG and a lot of people had some new kind of float that is round and just pops open-no inflation necessary.

Regarding what to wear to dinner, some of the CA people on the cruise were totally decked out in dresses, heels, etc. as was a young French lady who was with the captain a lot.

It is not hot in the dining rooms in the evenings!

bam, do you mean a "noodle" float, just a flexible cylinder of maybe 3 inches? Those are great!

Bam!!
RE dinner dressing.....I understood it was casual?
We are going in July and planned on sundress, skirt, tops, capris and sandals! Kind of like what we wear at a caribbean resort. Is this o.k. Or do I have to rethink everything! Love to know what floats you are talking about. We just got a cheap blow up. I think a "noodle" would be bulky to pack.

Thanks for any input.

No, it is not a noodle, it is round and about about 24-30 inches across when in the carry mode (they had a shoulder strap carry)and about 2 inches thick. They look like discs. Then they spring open and the edge inflate (we think). They had a little head rest. We have never seen them but a few people had them.

Carol, you can wear anything you like in the dining room. It is very nice. I wore the same black pants (Chicos) almost every night with a different
"fun" top with a jacket. My sister wore a black dress every night with a different jacket, shirt over. The captain's party seems to bring out the best dressed of the week.
The lady with the captain (he kissed her goodbye at the tender) was totally decked! I wish I knew where she bought her awesome mother of pearl bracelet and unbelieveable necklace that wrapped around her like a Egyptian collar. I did see her shopping at one of the dock vendors in Moorea (the one that has the carved pearls).

The dining experience was so unbelievable that it does not matter what you are wearing. Just enjoy as tomorrow I am dieting!

This is exactly what we bought at Wal-Mart to bring. Chatkat/Kathy had recommended them. She called them Swimways, but I think the brand we got was different but same thing basically. We bought 3 cheap thin floaties anyway just for the Bora Bora motu day where there are no chairs and we'd need something more cushioned.

Thanks for the info!~! Good thing we aren't on the same cruise as I'll be wearing the same black pants from Chicos....and probably some of the same tops!! I may just do a skirt too. But NEVER high heels!! (I'm too So. Calif. casual for that)
Now I'll have to head to WalMart and try to find that float thing.
Thanks for all the good info. We are ready to go!! Just have a month to wait.

One more thing before I close, there are no irons on the PG. My husbands shirts were totally wrinkled and it is something like $3.50 for pressing (we took them in the shower steam). Got to love Chico's traveler clothes!

Have a wonderful time! It is impossible not to!

We're on the PG right now, and tonight was probably the most dressed-up evening of the cruise: the cvaptain's welcome cocktail part. I'd say about half the mend wore sport jackets, half didn't. (One wore a tie, poor fellow.) There is no need to disregard what they say: resort casual is perfectly fine, and all you need. Don't overpack!
