Well I am packing, or begining to atleast. I know the PG has no official formal nights, but would a long sort of formal dress be appropriate for either the captains reception or the SSS party? Does anyone dress up at all? I know I am in the minorty with this, but we DO like to dress up atleast once, particularly with 9 sea days on a longer cruise. Any thoughts???????

Cindy, I wore sleeveless tank style dresses that came to my ankles, like these ones below. Are these what you mean?

Those are great dresses. i have one sort of similar. The one that I am thinking is just too dressy i think. It is a light weight stretchy velvet. Halter style, with some glittery thing. Perfect for the Voyager, but i don't think it will work on the PG, particularly that time of year. Thanks Karen!!!!

Cindy - I saw all kinds of evening dress on the PG but more in the vein of summer evening. I don't recall velvet....

I agree with Kathy, glittery is fine, but velvet probably wouldn't feel quite right. It's a very tropical ambience. But you should wear what you like, really anything goes.

It does get chilly inside the dining room. You will be ok in velvet.

Cindy,
I always believe you should wear what you feel best in. On my recent PG cruise I wore a number of dresses similar to the ones Karen posted pictures of. I did wear one dressy one on my anniversary and was certainly more dressy than anyone else, but I didn't mind. Some wore long dresses on Christmas but nothing in velvet. It is cool in the dining room so I always make sure and have a shawl or pashmina. I think Wendy is right is saying that it is more tropical, but again you should wear what you want. No one will say a word or think anything about it.

That is what it always comes down to for me as well. That dress (Davids favorite) packs like a dream, you could wad it up in my make up bag and it would look great, so i will take it. Sure won't be the first thing I've packed that never saw the light of day.
