I'm looking at the JW Marriot Hotel Rio de Juneiro,
and finding prices from $300 to $550 for the same rooms.
Has anyone dealt with:
Otel.com, DHR.com, CheapoStay or CheapOAir.com
Are any of these companies reputable?

Or can any recommend a reliable hotel discounter?

Everyone likes a good deal, you just don't want to get burned 6312 miles away from home. :mecry:

Are you brave enough to use Priceline? I just looked at bidding for travel and Brazil now does Priceline rooms.

3 and 4 star hotels are around $120 to $160 and the two hotels won so far at that price is the 4 star Rio Intercontinental and the 4 star Sheraton.
After reading the posts, someone mentioned that the Marriot is also in the hotel mix but no one has posted if they have successfully bid on it yet.

Here is the bidding for travel forum, where they are talking about the Rio hotels and what they won them for.

I don't know that this will be at all useful, but when we were planning an Oceania cruise in 2009, we had decided to stay at the Arpoador Inn in Rio. I had researched reasonable hotels pretty thoroughly and for location and price, this one seemed to have a lot going for it. However, we canceled that cruise and never stayed at a hotel in Rio.

Thank you Karen and Eugene,

JW Marriott accepted our lower rates so now paying $250 & $295 incl. taxes, down from their rack rate of $495 + taxes - And the reservations are fully refundable up to 24 hours before stay

Marriott's has a Look No Further Guarantee - they will match competition and then take 25% off room rate.

I might have to try Priceline - $160 or below for the Intercontinental sounds very tempting.

Karen, do you have a tour guide lined up for Rio?
