Both the Crown Plaza and Marriott Renaissance (about 1/2 block apart) are close to the Dam Square, Red Light District, lots of restaurants and everything you would want to see is in walking distance. The central train station is about 2 blocks away and trains between there ans the airport are very inexpensive. Taxi from the airport is about 50 to 60 Euros.

Anybody stayed at the Pulitzer? We are booked there for 3 nights in July. Hope I made a good choice. ------------ Helen

Helen, We stayed there about 7 years ago and were very pleased. We had a room facing the canal. Some of the rooms may be a little dark as I vaguely remember.
Frank & Carla stayed there after our PARIS riverboat trip in December so they may have more updated info. I think you made a good choice!

Thanks, Marcie! I almost went with the Intercontinental but missed the Friends and Family deal that Denise had offered. --------------- Helen

Hotel Pulitzer is wonderful. was upgraded to a Deluxe Canal View room, and really enjoyed our stay.. They went through a renovation recently and it really shows... We stayed on Cash & Points was a great deal I thought... This was not the case when we stayed there but recently they give free breakfast and Internet to all SPG Platinum members... We would stay there again in a heartbeat..

Lynn, In 2003 we stayed at the Renaissance Hotel in Amsterdam for a couple of nights. It was very conveniently located, quiet and just a very nice hotel stay for us. Maybe it would would suit you. Debbie

I heartily concur with Frank regarding Hotel Pulitzer. It is a unique property, as it is a bunch of vintage townhouses combined into an hotel. It's a bit odd to walk through, since the floors are not at exactly the same level from one townhouse to another; and some of the rooms have low ceilings because of the wonderful old beams. All in all, it's a very special hotel, my favorite in Amsterdam, without a question. Cheers, Fred
