I have two suggestions from below about Copacabana, but would like suggestions for Ipanema Beach hotels.

I can`t make suggestions, since I`ve not been. But I`ve booked the Promenade Visconti for December. It`s a modest 3-star, from what I can gather, with decent ratings on Tripadvisor. The other place I looked at was the Praia.
I too would welcome other suggestions or recommendations, although I`m sticking to modestly-priced options.

We were planning on staying at the Arpoador Inn before our Oceania cruise this past February. However, we subsequently canceled the cruise. I had read very good things about this modest hotel, and it's location seemed excellent.

We stayed at the Caesar Park on Ipanema post cruise. We made our arrangements through AMEX PC and were upgraded to a very nice 2 room,corner suite overlooking the beach. Took long walks around the area and felt completely comfortable.AMEX PC late check out worked well with late departure back to Atlanta.
