I didn't think it was too big a deal, and my wife doesn't like to be "surprised". The dock is about 1/2 mile and it is a neat town (relatively) to walk through down to the port. While a taxi may be fine, assuming your luggage has wheels, you would be fine. Everyone seemed friendly enough to tell you how to get there. And the train was way cheaper, even for 4 people, than the Van. I always look at savings like this as monies to be used for massages on board!
