Wow, these stories of leaving Amman make me glad that we decided to leave Jordan via Eilat and Tel Aviv. After Wadi Rum, our guide gave us a short tour of Aqaba and then to the border crossing with Israel. There, they inspected our luggage before leaving Jordan, and we then walked across the border where we went through a painless Israeli inspection. Our driver met us on Israeli side and then whisked us to Eilat airport for our quick flight to Tel Aviv. We stayed overnight and flew out the next morning. When we got to the airport, our guide took us through security and even jumped us in front of the Business and First Class lines though we were flying coach. Very painless.
For Nile 3, that might be a reasonable option to avoid the long bus ride back to Amman and the issues at Amman airport.
