Ok all, if some of you rember me, we had to cancel cruise plans due to Katrina. Katrina did a lot of damage to our family. But we are thinking of cruising again. So first of all how did you all like the Sydney to Auckland on old RSSC? What was Asia like? Has RSSC changed with just the new name of any other lines that you folks prefer. Looks like we may take the plunge soon.

Thanks and comments appreciated.

Fred, I did that itinerary in reverse sailing from Auckland into Sydney. Cruising into the gorgeous Sydney harbor is a sight I'll never forget. Guess you would just be doing it backwards. Make sure you do a pre-cruise in Sydney and a post stay in Auckland if this is the only segment you do. Both cities are wonderful and the people are so nice!

Fred, I was on that leg with Marcie. I agree, the sail into Sydney was a memorable one! Your itinerary has a couple of ports we didn't hit, and we missed Melbourne because of a storm in the Bass Straits. I loved New Zealand! There are no Asia ports on that cruise.

Fred, we recently took LA to Sydney and then Sydney to Hong Kong. If you are looking for an alternative to Sydney to Auckland, I highly recommend LA to Sydney. It has a bunch of sea days but the sail through French Polynnesia is outstanding. Plus, it has a bit of NZ tossed in and includes sailing into Sydney harbor. Of course, I'm raving about it but don't know if it's offered anytime soon. I do know there is Auckland to LA (I think) and it should be about the same.

I did the Sydney to Auckland trip a few years ago and LOVED it!!! I expected to like the places I visited, but New Zealand far exceeded my expectations. What a fantastic trip you are considering!!!! :app:
